Everybody needs an SKX. Cheap, durable and reliable.

I went with a classic Turtle SRP773. It’s a little on the big side for my 7 1/2 wrist though. I purchased it at a Seiko headquarters sample sale for a great price.

It looks like the SPB17X line is not available for purchase in the US market. Where are you all buying these?

have always loved/owned rolex, but recently decided i didn't feel right paying today's prices for a sub/seadweller
went with this instead, SBGA029 |

I second the above - Turtle for entry-level, Willard or SPB series for mid-range. If going high-end, go Spring Drive, it's something a Rolex/Tudor guy won't have experienced and it'll blow their mind.

Agree with many of the comments here with one thing to add - if you're used to Rolex I would probably get a seiko diver on rubber and not the metal bracelet. I feel that the bracelet and clasps is where the quality difference is most noticeable. Love my skx and turtle (srp777) but wear them on rubber straps.
Low range: turtle. Awesome for the money. Mine is really accurate too. Design is exceptional even if finishing is not rolex level Mid range: srp151/153/149/147/185 or 187. Movement upgrade on the turtle and better finishing High end: sla033, sla043. Classic designs but pricey. Not as accurate as Rolex/Tudor in general though. Lots of other options but above are my favourites! |

Just bought a Seiko Prospex SPB147, I agree wearing a Rolex and then a Seiko metal band is a disappointment. Love the rubber band models and this one has a great look.
