Incoming!

First post on here, but have been lurking for quite some time. So many interesting threads and beautiful watches!

Been looking at getting a Nautilus for a few years, and finally pulled the trigger this beauty - the 3712.

Figured the prices of 5711/12 have gotten so high that I might as well get something a little more special. Was fortunate enough to get my hands on this well-kept piece (only worn a few times), bought from the same AD that originally sold it back in 2006.

Love the dial, the bracelet and the micro rotor movement. It's simply a stunning, and slightly different watch than your regular time and date.
Only thing that bugs me is the clasp locking mechanism. The first few times it felt like I had to rip it apart to open it.

Amazing rare bear! Love the 3712/5612! It’s an amazing watch and the 3712 is a future super grail if it’s not there already. One year of production and some real nuances for the detail oriented watch gurus. Especially the old 3700 case and the dial. Enjoy it and wear it well.

I opted for something a little more special for that reason - the 3712 seems super undervalued IMO, since prices haven't gone up massively like the 5711/12 lately, and much more special for collectors (limited production, case build etc.)

Wow, congratulations on the stunning second series (first series has 3 red dots) 3712! The most undervalued Nautilus. The 3712 was produced for only for 9 months, with approximately 500-700 pieces made total, it is the least produced of ALL of the Nautilus references (even including the 3711/1G (2 years) and 5800 (1 year)! Eventually collectors will catch on and this reference will be much more appreciated and price reflected (although they are trading currently in the 140-150k range!) I see them increasing even further in the future given their rarity. Very smart and wonderful purchase at the same time! Enjoy wearing it!

Thanks! I like that it's a pretty special watch without being super noticeable (other than it being a Nautilus of course). While they are trading higher than 5712, it hasn't really exploded like the 5711 and 5712 have lately (at least according to C24), and some offers I got on a 5712 put them above the price I paid for this one. That's at least how I justify spending the little extra money.

It's bought to be worn though - haven't been able to take it off my wrist yet.

Yes, your right regarding the pricing differential of the 5712 and 5711 vs 3712. You found an arbitrage in the market! The 3712 is the smartest buy financially if you want a Nautilus. Post some more pictures my friend! Again, congratulations on a brilliant purchase.

I was told at the factory in Geneva, production began in late 2005 and ended prior to Baselworld 2006 (April). Approximately 6 month total production with about 500 total pieces worldwide. A gentleman on Purists has a great 9 part write up on the 3712 vs 5712 differences. Great read.

Do you know why it was produced for such a duration? 6 months is really short for a production duration.

Unfortunately I don’t, I will try and find out. Incredible buy from the OP from an investment standpoint as well as an incredible timepiece in itself. The dial and dimensions are stunning on the wrist, thin and comfortable, can be dressed up or down. A significantly better watch to buy than the 5712. Collectors who haven’t caught on to it’s rarity (approx. 500 total made) in the lineage of the Nautilus line eventually will and these should continue to skyrocket in value.
