Don't take offense. The Bay Area is perhaps the unfriendliest place I ever lived.

Welcome to the Bay Area.

I'm sure others will be more than happy to schedule a get-together when they see this thread.

In the meantime, I can make some suggestions (restaurant (food preferences?), activities, etc)....

Hahah. A lot of us in the Bay Area are geeks and nerds behind a computer writing codes. Check out the show Silicon Valley on HBO. We are more friendly than most places out there.

Too bad you’re not in town the first Saturday of the month. You can check out the Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, etc on most Saturday of the month at Santana Row in San Jose.

You’ll see plenty of Rolex owners walking around.

If you're around until Sunday August 19th, there are a couple of car events happening on that day in the Bay Area. MinMay, if you're a car person, you might be interested in these too!

1) Cafe Petrol Meet @ The Veranda Shopping Center in Concord, CA - This is a Cars and Coffee type event. http://cafe-petrol.com/

2) Hot Summer Sundays Car Show in Danville, CA - This is kinda like a mini Hot August Nights on Hartz Ave. in Danville which is like a Main St. https://www.dhsscs.com/

Also, the following week from August 20th to August 26th is Monterey Car Week in Monterey, CA, followed by the Pebble Peach Concours on the 26th. A must for any automotive enthusiast, as this one week per year is basically the "Super Bowl" of car events!

There are so many good restaurant in SF. And if I can make several recommendation:

Wayfare Tavern (https://www.opentable.com/wayfare-tavern) - their free bread is da bomb....and chicken is delicious.

Anchor and Hope (https://www.opentable.com/r/anchor-a...-san-francisco) - love their ceviche...seafood is excellent.

Oh, you have to make reservation in advance...

too many other ones...

A lot of us don't live or work in SF city, and it really is inconvenient to go to the city during the week. It would probably get more traction if it was somewhere in the peninsula, like Palo Alto, San Mateo, or etc.

That totally makes sense. It's the same in Chicago..
Which of those locations is doable via uber? I can come out to one of those locations.

anywhere is doable with Uber. Both in the same direction coming from Highway 101

SF -> to San Mateo (15-20 min)
SF -> to Palo Alto (25 min)

There is not much night life in San Mateo. Palo Alto has the restaurant and night life on University Ave. (Next to Stanford University) . Also, they have Stanford Mall with some high end brand. There is a Rolex boutique shop in there if you you're looking for Datejust and gold or diamond Rolex :). Palo Alto is where the wealthy lives...and next door is Atherton, where the billionaire lives.

Also, avoid using BART public train transportation at night.

i forgot to add; if the san mateo/palo alto meeting place idea
gains traction, may i suggest that it be located near a caltrain
station for those commuting to/from the south bay or san francisco

Okay, give me a few to make some room in my inbox. Then pm me with your email and I'll get us connected. Multi people PMs don't work here.

I should really ask GerardoG what's the best way to organize this, hahahaha. He's got it all figured out!

OK! PM away :)

If there's enough people and enough interest, I can likely get us the very private room at a very good sushi resto in San Mateo. I have no affiliation with them, other than being a very devoted customer of theirs since 2005. I have organized dinners there several times for wine aficionados, and the owner has always waived corkage fees. The format is a prix fixe of shared apps and sushi, and we typically agree on an "all-in" (food, tax & tip) cost of $80 cash per person. Have typically had a 6:30PM start time, and we will linger there until as late as 9:30. They're closed on Mondays.

That sounds delicious :)

We already figured a place to meet on Monday.
If there is enough interest, i'd be up for it on one of the other days.

I mean, twist my arm to have some sushi

I'll be in SFO, Monday dinner with Danny and Phil. Would be awesome if you join us. You're around that area right?

I hadn't seen this thread (don't have enough time to hang out in the open discussion as much as I like.)

I will be up for a dinner somewhere too, but with two young kids and both my wife and I working, I need to make sure I arrange in advance. I will PM you.

I'm up for a meet/dinner, however I'll be out of town August 15-17th for work. I live in the peninsula, but can work out of Palo Alto or San Fran. Just let me know if you need or want another head!
