My dealer in Long Beach made two mistakes on Rolex trades that was upsetting. He made up for it by giving me my money back in trade and sold me a new gold/stainless DJ 116233 at his cost or dramatically below what the AD in the area was selling the same watch for. The transactions are documented in this OT Swiss TO post in this section.

The key is to keep the customer and that is what the jeweler did. He knew he goofed up and wanted to make it right with me. As a former National Sales Manager of a NASDAQ 1000 company and now running my own company keeping customers is key. I had a large budget when I was working full time to take care of customers in tough situations to make sure that they felt the outcome was fair. We took care of it personally and made sure the customer felt he came out of it feeling like it was a good deal for everyone.

As a thank you I'm taking the dealer and his wife out for a high end dinner. I'll be back at his store as a long term customer.

If Buyers are the enemy, you're in the wrong business. Buyers are the lifeblood of your business. Not a good place to be burning bridges!

Agreed! Trusted seller or not he isn't one I would do business with if he replies like this.

All I know is that I wouldn't buy from a seller that screws up something so basic. I've recently purchased from two Trusted Sellers here...in both instances I called and asked if the pieces were available, and they were. I agreed the price with both sellers over the phone and asked them to consider the piece sold. In both instances I received exactly what I had agreed to purchase...I don't really see any reason why I shouldn't get what I agreed upon with the seller in real time.

The lack of communication and disorganization of inventory are enough to make me stay away.

So Rolex did not manufacture that dial, but it says Rolex? That would be counterfeit then...

All of the people that came to back House of Time have old accounts with very low post counts. Call me paranoid but are they all HIS accounts maybe???

Count me in as someone who will not buy from you!

I've sent you 2 inquiries about watches that you have been offering for a pretty long time and you did not even bother to reply.

I can't recommend Intl House of Time

I don't know how anyone could consider this chain of events an honest mistake by the seller. Plus his attitude sucks.

Of course, you (and your "brigade") are entitled to respond on your behalf but I think your response here speaks for itself.

Again, this was only my experience with you. Good luck with your business and hopefully this can be an instructive experience for both of us.
Don't flame me but the seller did acknowledge the error and fully refunded you. I get it was a hassle but after reading so many fraud horror stories I must conclude this seller is honest. He goofed and made good on it.

the fact that the OP was told that it was available, that the seller took the money and never contacted the buyer again is warrant enough to let other be aware of the situation. regardless if you bought a watch from him 5 years ago and all went well ... obviously Max doesn't care too much of this customers (and potentially what other thinks here too) that title for his post is petty - goodbye

To the OP, thanks for sharing this.
As a small business owner, a mistake like this on such a basic transaction, has me wondering about the competency and efficiency of this seller. I mean, this is what you do.
If and when I've made mistakes that may lose us a valuable customer, a simple refund is not sufficient. I would have compensated the OP with a huge discount on a future sale (and a huge apology). Customers want to believe they are special. They can spend their hard-earned cash at any number of establishments. Intl House of Time posting "buyers are the enemy" sure doesn't help that cause. That's just stupid.

Very good.
The business made a mistake. Even if he doesn't want to offer anything else, He should at least be apologetic and humble. Not the other way around.
