X2. Big mustang guy here as well. My first car into the muscle car world and where the big muscular V8 sound stirred my souls was a 1997 Cobra SVT. What a car, revved like crazy and became a Shelby fan too ever since.

The 24 Hour War is a pretty good doc about Ford vs. Ferrari. Worth checking out first.

One of the best movies I have seen in awhile. I thought Matt Damon did a fantastic job playing Carroll Shelby. Can't wait to watch it again.

Glad to hear it I'll probably end up getting a Blu-Ray copy of this film when the studio releases those in a few months. It's worth owning I think.

Ford -v- Ferrari. Went to the theater Friday, very good movie, if you like cars and speed you gotta see it. A little history, back in 1986, last month of Julie Bottorf’s English Class, we had to write a biography on someone as the major part of the quarter’s grade. I chose Carroll Shelby. I covered his racing days, to the Cobra, then to the GT and Le Mans. This is when I fell in love with the GT40. Oh, IIRC I got a B which probably is not too shabby for writing about some gear heads.

SEE IT IN IMAX!!!!

Anyway, the movie goes a little beyond what might have happened and buffs the main characters – this is Hollywood – but it does stick to most of the original story. There are some minor Hollywood stunt driving clips that are slightly out of alignment with the real, consider it the car racing equivalent of Tom Cruise in a Tomcat pushing the throttle quadrant forward into burner, deploying speed brakes, and pulling back on the stick. If you know, you know.

But the movie is exhilarating, the cast is very good, and the stars; Shelby, Ken Miles and family, and the MKII are superb. And it does a great job on Ken Miles. Again, if you know, you know. Go see it.

Now I need to find out how to get the bride to let me find 200k for a GT40 replica. Looks like the kid will need to get an online degree.

SEE IT IN IMAX!!!!

I just got back taking The Kid to see it in IMAX

SEE IT IN IMAX!!!!

I cannot stress this enough: IMAX !!!

I was a bit bored. Ok so I knew the story inside out, so had no suspense. Bale's hammy acting also put me off.

Much prefer Rush.

Cars looked great though.

For you younger guys, if you haven't seen the 1971 Steve McQueen film "Le Mans" you may want to check it out. Another very good race film.

Excellent film! I give it two gear shift levers up! Enjoyed it as much as Rush.
That said Le Mans is still my favorite.

Going to see it this weekend but I’d recommend checking out 24HR War on Netflix. It’s a documentary that gives the full and true story behind the events with interviews with the real drivers and teams. Really cool story.

saw it yesterday very well done the race scenes made you feel like you were actually inside the car. I did the Petty driving school at Las Vegas speedway a few years back and one part of the school was a drive around with a professional driver at 190mph what rush but it makes you realize what kind of talent it takes to drive a car at those speeds in a crowd of other cars.

So, I just got around to seeing this movie and really enjoyed it. Of course, we all love the cars, but did ya'll notice the watches? Spotted a couple 6239 or 6240 Daytonas I think. It is a known thing that Rolex gave them to the winners, so I thought it was neat that they show Ken Miles wearing one right after he won Daytona. Anyone else notice this or can offer more clarity?

6239 or 6240

Saw it last week and we loved it. Some great scenes, racing and yes, spotted some watches too.
A must 'go to see' movie, imo..

I am not really a "car guy" per se, as I appreciate things that are a bit more utilitarian. But I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I also don't really care for Matt Damon but I thought he and Bale did a fantastic job with the acting. I believed the characters and was really brought into the movie, a great experience.
