I’m back into the groove of dieting, ive been better at portion control and calorie counting... also the discipline of going to do my cardio is back.
Been up since 3:30 am working but found time to hit the gym for some cardio then to the office. I’m starting to hit cardio maybe 3x a week. I need to get that to 5x and 2 days of lifting...Im strictly staying with LISS vs HIIT. Trying to cut fat and not build more muscle/endurance |

The 1980s want their information back. Eating fat does not make you fat. Eating chicken does not make you a chicken.
Eat good saturated fat, cut the carbs (which is just sugar) and eat real food. The reason people lose a lot of weight on Keto is because they cut carbs to 50 grams a day. They eat good saturated fat, and protein and real food (not packaged which is full of sugar). You don't have to go to the extreme of Keto but if you get the carbs down to 100g a day, and stop eating anything with the ingredients on the box you WILL lose weight. Real food does not need to list ingredients. Anything that does, is probably manufactured garbage. |

I posted in the 2019 weight loss support thread a few times. 2019 was a bad year for me (weight-wise) but ended great. Saw a new doc recommended by my wife. Turns out I have a thyroid issue and wasn’t taking the meds correctly (need to wait at least 4 hours after meals & most drinks. Then wait 1 hour afterwards before consuming anything but water.
I'm also getting my strong willpower back like had in my 20 and 30s. Doing more active tasks, trying to use the wife's Peloton more, and still coaching my kids' teams. I'm in my mid 40 now and am 5'6”. Reached an all- time high of 207 lbs in Nov. Doc was very concerned about my pre-diabetes levels and temporary put me on a low dosage of Ozempic. Also recommend 16/8 or 18/6 fasting which I am doing. Sometimes I get up to 19-20 hours w/o staving myself. Note: it isn’t a true fast as I do drink coffee during it with almond 'milk' creamer. The key is eating less. Currently, down to 192. My goal is 170. Clothes fit much better. Even my watches feel loser. Feeling more energized during most days. Feeling better about myself although I was never really down on myself. One key small habit I am back to is weighing myself 3x per week. This allows me to catch myself if having a bad few days of eating & correct it ASAP. |

If you feel like educating yourself on some of this stuff here is some info: https://chriskresser.com/health-solutions-library/ And here is some on diabetes and one of it's major causes, too much carbohydrate intake which is essential sugar, which causes excessive insulin production, until you become insulin resistant. Drugs are rarely a good idea when there are ways around them. And in most cases it's a racket. 3/4 of Americans over 50 are on drugs and up to 4 prescriptions a day. Sound advice below from my research and my wife who is a recognized expert in my region for people having fatty liver disease . Thus, why I'm taking my diet seriously now and want to be around for my kids.
Eat good fats. Cut carbs down especially in the morning. When eating dinner carbs, eat with contrasting food to help balance. Skip processed junk and eat real food. For me, the junk flavored coffee creamer was killing me along w/ eating after 7pm. Ugh. Can't wait to fit into my designer clothes from just 5 years ago while sporting a nice watch :) Quote:

Good call, that's exactly what I've been doing for the last few weeks. I have increased each exercise by one set and increased the reps by 5 per set. This plus extra cardio is allowing me to stay in a deficit and at least retain if not gain some muscle.

Down 0.2 lbs on the week. Not as much as I was hoping...but progress still. Keeping myself honest tracking it. Just a reminder that weight lost is not linear. I know I’m carrying a little more water weight at the moment given my sodium intake has been high these past week.

Got it. It's actually not that bad. Losing weight sucks. I'm a big foodie (as most Asians) so it's even worse for me. Good luck. (from your incomings you are already lucky :) )

Not bad
Not a bad weight for a male. Pretty sure your kinda active. Be active and play around with different foods and try to keep it healthy. Many options to choose from when it comes to your health.

Now that we are stuck at home... going to try to hit the target of 150 before we go back to work... assuming that’s end of May.
