We used to catch them as a kid in Texas, then put worms in to feed them. No idea how O was never stung.

Just had a closer look at the photo, sure enough it’s there.

I am once again thankful to live in a country where the most malignant wildlife likely encountered would be a slightly grumpy badger.

One of the kids down the street caught this guy... Definitely easier to appreciate when they are outside!

I hear ya.

In Canada there were mosquitoes that could carry you away some years, but here in California there are no bugs to speak of and no critters like this near me.

I once had a possum under my deck but he got bored and left and we had some rats one year but they must have gotten eaten by neighborhood cats.

Bucket of laughs. Cut off the tip of its tail. Then spend the day throwing the living scorpion at people. So much fun you'll never pay for entertainment again.

If you're soft hearted and worry about it suffering then just microwave him for 3 seconds. They assume fighting posture the second the micro starts, then die frozen in that position. They look scary and people still freak when you toss it to them.

For those who think poor scorpion. Don't judge if you haven't lived with them for 20 years.

Fun. Did you brush his teeth as well?

I always pack a UV light for trips to the desert. They tend to play at night.

You're bringing back the bad memories of my time in AZ. Never live on the bottom floor of an apartment complex. Scorpions got in everywhere. Always had to check your shoes before putting them on in the morning and one time got home from a trip and there were a couple in my sink and bathtub.

I had one of my company conferences at the Phoenician and one of our guests got stung in bed by one. The guy was suffering from ALS too and only wanted to go to our conference to see all his friends. I felt sooooo horrible.

Cute little bugger. I used to find those all the time in our field apparatuses in college. I kept one as a pet and fed it small roaches, and discovered they're very tidy creatures, like OCD. At the end of the meals, the exoskeletons would be rolled into perfect spheres.

They're fabulous under UV light. Critters from outer space.

Do you torture other animals too? Puppies? Squirrels? Cats?

Or just scorpions?

its the little ones that are the more dangerous scorpions. tiny claws, avoid them.

I have one that I killed on my closet wall 4 or 5 years ago and I just left him there as a warning to all his little brothers...

he still glows.

Supposedly the chemical that makes them glow is very stable. Fossilized scorpions will still glow after a million years, as long as the chemical hasn't been eroded or washed away by other means. Nature is neat.

I have a zero tolerance policy for scorpions and rattle snakes. Lived with them for far too long. Rattlers just get the shovel treatment. I wouldn't risk teasing one.... Though I did used to day-dream about using a rattler for road rage revenge. Always thought about de-fanging a rattle snake and keeping it in the vehicle. When some road rage loser lowers his window to mouth off, just throw the rattle snake in his car

I love animals. Rattle snakes and scorpions are not animals.

Don't mind dealing with rattle snakes but don't like scorpions. Our South West gets some big ones.

My pleasure, kinda. Spiders creep me out!

I just realize, though, that the little critters glow better than my DJ too!
