Nomo’s is next on my list for watch purchases...of course that is subject to change. I really like the style.

Was at Tourneau yesterday specifically to look at this guy. This is the first time I've seen a Nomos in the flesh. It's an incredibly sweet watch, much nicer in person than I expected.

I like simple things and unpretentious watches. I believe I'm quite smitten with the Club. Unfortunately, my wife is unimpressed. We had a lengthy discussion about it yesterday. She is a complete slave to marketing and doesn't care one bit about engineering or history or WIS things. She was literally, like, "Why buy a $3000 watch when you can buy a Rolex?"

Look at it this way, your wife just gave you the green light to buy a Rolex

LOL, yes. Now, if only the dealers had Rolexes to sell...

Perhaps off topic, but this is one of my favorite watches. That might help explain my attraction to the Nomos. The IWC has been sitting and hasn't been serviced in many years. It runs, but slowly. I am trying to decide if it makes sense to invest $1000 or more to send it to Schaffhausen for a restoration. I would not trust it at one of the stateside centers.

Edit: The photo looks like there are blotches on the dial, but in real life it's essentially flawless. Just a little bit yellowed. The huge attraction of the Nomos is that I can wear it every day and not worry about ruining it.

I have the same internal argument with myself. I’ve tried a few on, I like them, but just not necessarily that much.

Yes, on the bright side you can get a Rolex and not upset her, but on the other hand, no one besides us and enthusiasts care about watches so it doesn’t matter what you wear. If it makes you happy then just get it. At least you can try convincing her you won’t have to worry about scuffing up a Nomos vs. scuffing up a Rolex. Good luck!

Replacement straps?

Just got my Metro and loving it so far. Wondering what replacement straps people have that work well on it. I'm finding the original to be a little dainty.

For summer I changed the OEM cordovan strap to a Eulit 2-piece perlon which worked well.

Looks great. I always liked the Ludwig and was on the hunt for one until I got distracted by an Orion about a year ago.

I prefer the black strap between the two.

thanks! i’m a big fan of the orion as well... i’ve read somewhere it’s the preferred model amongst nomos’s watchmakers so you’re in good company.

and that second strap is actually navy! definitely looks black sometimes.

At the risk of being shot down for thread revival, has anyone purchased a Nomos Autobahn yet? I would love to see a wrist-shot if so........

On the subject of straps, I have switched my Autobahn out of the fabric strap it comes with to one of their Cordovan Leather straps. It works well. I absolutely adore dealing with Nomos - their customer service is insanely good. I also like that you can register your watches with them ; you can't even do that with Rolex !

We all have our preferences, that's why straps are so great, each individual can customize to their liking.

Enjoy!

New Arrival !

Greetings fellow Nomos fans! Just checking in to report the arrival of my new Tangente Neomatic Update.

After some pondering and planning, I figured I would select a Metro or perhaps a Tangente, and then this beautiful little machine was offered in a trade and I pounced.

First day out on the wrist, and I'm very happy so far. I'll check back here with more impressions and thoughts about the model after living with it a bit.

Cheers!
