1680 triple lock crown

Can anybody confirm that if you had your sub1680 serviced by Rolex in the 80s onwards that they changed the triple lock crown to the later version (with seal) as suggested by The Italian Watch Spotter website as my 3,685,xxx has a later crown but it was serviced by Rolex in 1996.
The more I look into this watch that I have owned since 1984 the more anomalies I find.

If it needed to changed, they would have changed it.
