I guess nobody reads my posts.

I posted this the other day.

https://www.tumi.com/store/0000001032

This says that the closing is temporary.

I presume it's the store in question.

How many Tumi stores could San Diego support.

Well, with Paul in town, maybe more than I would suspect.

Agree! I have several of their packs and bags. Love them all. Very well-made product and well worth the price.

It’s a pretty tough retail market out there right now. Not to be a downer but I could see Tumi going into bankruptcy. Two things against their core market. Travel has been decimated and likely not to recover for a few more years, maybe. Corporate offices remain closed forcing workers to work remotely. I hate to say it. But Tumi is going to struggle unless they have substantial cash flow.

Can someone explain to me the TUMI cult following? I know two people who are also TUMI junkies... I just don't get it.

What am I missing?

Agreed. That's exactly why I said "never say never". A lot of people don't realize how tight the operating margins are for some of these brands. We often hear about people who live one paycheck away from financial disaster. Well similarly, some positively massive brands - even renowned global luxury brands - operate just one or two fiscal quarters away from bankruptcy (or tighter).

We've got a nice Tumi outlet a half hour from where I live. Stop buy and I'll go up there with you.
