1926+ Oyster availability?

Hi guys, new to the forum here, but not exactly new to watches in general. I did some searching but couldn't find anything matching what I'm looking for.

Do original 1926/1927 SS/silver Oysters with roman numerals ever come up for sale? I found some gold cased ones and one SS but they have arabic numbers on them. Anyway, just curious to see if anyone has seen them in half-way decent condition for under 10 g's. Thanks.

The "Mercedes Gleitze" Rolex that famously survived the English Channel and was the first Rolex Oyster watch sold at Christie's fairly recently.

The original Rolex Oyster watches in SS or Silver from 1927 are out there, but a lot of a searching and patience will be required to find one. Good Luck!

Thanks for the response, David. Wow, that's sweet, and not even that much money. Too much for my blood, but I expected it would sell way higher.

Do you have any recommendations for where to look for one? I've seen similar ones all over on Chrono24, Etsy, Ebay, etc. I'm not sure if I'd trust Etsy; definitely not Ebay from everything I've read.

Considering the 1927 Rolex Oyster is coming up on being 100 years old, I would think the most likely way to acquire one would be via auction. Christie's, Sotheby's, and Phillips auction houses would be good places to start.

I got a problem with that watch! That movement has been replaced. That's a 1940's movement. That movement wasn't even MADE when that watch was commissioned.
