SpaceX splashdown on Sunday

Godspeed, gentlemen. Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley, NASA astronauts, flying SpaceX Crew Dragon to re-entry from ISS mission on Sunday. First splashdown for US space program since 1975. Here's hoping it goes without a hitch. Targeting Gulf of Mexico and not Atlantic, given tropical storm.

This is still deemed an experimental vehicle until SpaceX proves they can successfully re-enter. So far, so good. 1:48PM Central splashdown Sunday is the plan.

I'm watching the live coverage right now as well. Fingers crossed that this goes without a hitch.

Great video. Interested to see them hoisted aboard. Private boaters impinging on the recovery area.

Future missions may have to address those rubbernecker boats. Conceivably they could interfere or endanger the capsule recovery, especially in rougher water.

Agreed. Wouldn't be around if NASA sent an aircraft carrier for recover like back in the old days!

Great success

The quick change to Gulf due to Hurricane didn’t help. Easier for smaller craft to have access because NASA chose sites close to Pensacola & PCB and then announced them. Usually LZ is well offshore.

CG cleared the landing area but failed to maintain a perimeter. To be fair, nobody expected that many lookielou’s

And Nitrogen Tetroxide is a wonderful praxis for COVID-19; maybe the boaters noticed a burning sensation that’ll be the gift that keeps on giving.
