[Outerwear]Jackets
Allright folks.
Lost a tremendous amount of weight over the last 6 months, about 60lbs total, and the one thing that really sucks about it is purchasing an entirely new wardrobe. I've donated pretty much all of my "fat" clothes to the Salvation Army, including all of my jackets. With Fall and Winter on the horizon, I'm going to need to be purchasing a few new items and am looking for recommendations. One thing that has caught my eye is the classic Baracuta Harrington, but am looking for other ideas and brands to consider. Thx in Advance. |

First, quality over quantity.
How much are you looking to spend for a single jacket? Are you just looking to be warm or do you also care about the finer details? Given the design you mentioned, I’d say check out Belstaff, and Ralph Lauren. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You can’t go wrong with Schott perfecto. There should be a store in LA.

I don’t have great recommendations for jackets, I get by with what I have, older things but have held up nicely. Not too cold winters where I am so I haven’t invested in newer or better coats.
Kudos on the weight loss. I lost about 40 pounds over the last year and am in the same boat with replacing the wardrobe. I’ve been keeping it to a minimum though and not buying too much too soon, as I realized I was a big clothes hoarder and kept my local Salvation Army very very busy lol |

Depending on how cold your climate is, Canada Goose makes quality stuff. My wife loves hers.

I posted this is another thread, but if you're into quality leather jackets there's none better than Himel Bros IMHO.
I purchased this Imperial in Shinki Horse Hide recently. I actually got to spend an afternoon with Dave for my fitting. He's a great guy with alot of intersting life experience. My jacket got pushed back a bit due to covid so I'm hoping to get it soon. Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

Ha! I’m in the same boat. I started loosing weight 101 days ago. Down 48 pounds. Trying for another 22. The only thing I own that still fit me are my socks. Where I live it gets extra cold. Much different than California I’m guessing, so I really can’t help there, but I wanted to say congratulations and keep up the great work.

Baracuta (Harrington) jackets are ok for summer wear.
Barbour make a comprehensive range of jackets. Some of their quilted jkts are quite nice. Musto stuff is worth a look, their 'SNUG' jackets are brilliant, (I own 3). |

I was going to suggest Barbour also which can be dressy or casual. If you tend to be more on the dressier side then you can check out Brooks Brothers.

I can well recommend Belstaff - have a few jackets and coats from them and they hold up great plus excellent customer service.

Awesome custom leather jackets. We had some made last December. They are beautiful, Leather is so soft and are perfect for California weather.

I just placed a custom order for an Aero Seven in Vincenza horsehide through Thurston Brothers. Love the Himel stuff but that is a $2,100 + jacket here in the States so Aero it is.

I live in the Northeast. For a winter coat, I have the “ Mont Royal” from Kanuk. It’s the lightest, warmest coat I’ve ever owned.
For the fall, I wear a Navy Peacoat from Ted Baker, a dark wash Levis trucker jacket, and several jackets from Northface. |

This is going to come as a complete shock to everyone, but my jacket is a Tumi.

My only advice is if you plan on losing more weight, don't buy anything too expensive.

I’ve got 2 Barbours which I really like. A classic Schott PeaCoat is always a solid choice.

OP you’re in LA, do you guys even have winter?
Id recommend a Corning’s Safari Jacket or perhaps Barbour as some have suggested. It depends a bit on your lifestyle and preference of course, that leather jacket brandrea posted is pretty sweet as well ! |
