It’s a well made practical stainless steel sport watch. It’s not going to change your life.

I noticed the photographer in this clip wearing a 5167A today. Sorry it’s an advert for the Google phone camera.

Would opt for something else personally. Had the 5167, yet no use due to now living a very active lifestyle, and so need a watch that truly can endure daily use. Current daily beater is a SS Sky Blue. For water sports (kiteboarding, paddleboarding, etc) the Sub ND works great.

Are you active, and what sports do you play while wearing a watch?

Do people really play sports wearing a $25000+ watch? I own a Garmin Epix which I find much more appropriate for running, hiking, cycling and gyming.

I’ve hit the gym a few times with my 15710 but it’s not the most practical sports watch due to the weight.

5167 was around 16k used with plastic strap, box, original papers, etc.... and yes, but no longer. If you want to test durability of your watch, send it to me. The B&R 03-92 has an ETA movement and handled two years of SCCA Formula car racing, and yes i was impressed with durability. Never been serviced in about 10 years and still keeps 'reasonably consistant' time.

I liked mine until the noisy rotor drove me crazy. It had to go.

I imagine the Aquanaut can handle plenty of activity, as I know someone who has been surfing with a Nautilus for the better part of 8 years. That said, I wear a Submariner when I paddle out. Not necessarily because it’s more robust than my 5167, although it undoubtedly is, but on account of the bezel being useful for timing sets. I play tennis as well, but that’s a watchless endeavor.

I experienced the same feeling first time i opened the box. Very small and thin rubber strap watch, very different with my previous daily watch (AP Roo, sub ln /lv, skyD)

But after wearing it for a while, my other watchs really have no wrist time no more.

These Patek sports are not Rolex sports. They are really very thin light weight watches which are really dress watches in SS. If you do not get that there is always a big let down. Patek states in their instructions (despite being water resistant to 120m) if you submerge their watches in water they recommend they be checked annually for WR. Huh?

The 5167 is a thin light elegant sports watch.
The dial is mesmerising to my eyes even nicer that the 5164/5711.
If you are used to Panerai, AP ROO etc it will feel insubstantial and unrobust.
It's a watch you wear to avoid being showy.
It's not for everyone.
I went through 5711,5726,5164,Rolex skydweller blue,Daytona etc etc
and went back to the 5167.
I can completely understand if you pay the money and feel under impressed
but if you sell it, it will call you back!

I find the 5167 can do anything a Rolex can do but of course a Rolex handles bezel scratches much better.

same is true of most watches. The more you are in this hobby the more you are attracted to what most would call odd designs.

Start with a Rolex GMT... then later a nautilus, or aquanaut is much more interesting or a royal oak, or a RM, etc.
At the beginning, there is no way i thought a Nautilus was an appealing design, later it was. My 5524 is one of my favorites because its weird.

A lot who dont like it say if the pushers were on the other side it would be nicer looking. To me though that would just make it look like a fake chronograph.

Its odd looking for sure. A PM pilot, pushers on the left side of the case which to me are different than say 5990 or 5164 pushers. Its part of the charm though and without that its less of a great watch to me.

Then there is the general Patek shouldn't make a pilot argument which is absurd. Its not a tool pilot watch by any measure, so in a sense its a much more unique take on the genre... as has been said before its a pilot for those riding in the plane, not flying it.

Hard to argue with that/ Understated practicality combined with elegance.

Agree with that. The first time I saw a 5711 about 20 years ago, I didn't give it a second glance. I struck me as interesting, but didn't resonate. Now I think it one of the most striking watches I've ever seen.

That was 8 years before the 5711 was introduced to the catalogue.

To be exact, what I saw back when was a PP 3700. Should have said.

I love my 5167a and rotate it with my 5711. The aquanaut is such a fly under the radar masterpiece on rubber.

Completely agree.

I own both, as well, and I wear my 5167 far more frequently than my 5711. Probably 4 to 1. It is the most comfortable watch I own. The Aquanaut is incredibly light and very under the radar. And unlike that 5711, which is beautiful in both pictures and in person, I was pleasantly surprised that the 5167 looks far better in person than in pictures.
