Wearing a watch across the Cdn border for visitors.

I was wondering, are there any possible problems if a visitor wears a watch past Canadian customs, and then leaves it in Canada? I know that I can't travel with it, but that's fine, as I'm leaving Canada in a year or so to return to my home country. I know that if I wear it across the border, there's the huge risk that I may be stopped, and have the watch seized, and incur a huge fine.

I am really desperate for an AP Offshore, and see if it may have to go this route.

Any thoughts?

Your watch can be seized just for wearing it across the border? Doesn't seem right.

Don't think Cdn customs really check whats on your wrist. HOWEVER, there was one instance where they did not declare a value of watch that was in a suitcase ($10,000), they incurred the luxury tax + GST / PST = 30%.

This was actually reported on the Toronto Star early this year.

I have been asked once, returning to Canada about my watch. I did have proof that it was purchased in Canada, so no problems.
I would only suspect visitors coming to Canada would not be asked, as it would be assumed to be there own property.
Canada Customs has issues with Canadians brining property into Canada.
