Toronto GTG Dietary concerns

Please let me know if there are any dietary concerns/allergies that we need to be aware of.

I am getting the chef to make a special menu for us which will give us the choice of a few choices such as Chicken, beef, seafood, pasta or vegetarian entrees.

Atomic if you could pass this request onto the others you have invited from other boards that would be great.

Those work for me, no mushrooms or seafood.
Not alergic, just not on the top of my "food" chain list.

If it swims in the water, I generally don't eat it. Other than that, I'm good to go!

BTW how can you not like shrooms!

See its good to know these things since the portabello shroom pasta is awesome.

Mind you, you guys will be able to order whatever you want but to keep things nice for the kictchen staff and be able to offer something special ahead of time its good to let the chef know ahead of time.

Aside from the, uh, chicken feet and innard I eat just about anything. Although, now that the feet and guts have been mentioned, I may not have an appetite by Nov. 4th

Don't eat too much dim sum, or you become "fei lo".

Fei Lo means "Fat Man".

I can't stand such items like chicken feet, the thought is enough to make my stomach turn, but I'll gobble down cow tripe like there's no tomorrow.

(I can't eat much dim sum anyways, since almost everything has pork or beef in it)

No Dim sum either. Horrible experience a while back.
If I don't recognize it, it doesn't go on my plate

Long storey short.
Friends took us to Dim sum. As we are waiting for our seats, ( on the second floor of the building) a cat runs from the kitchen, past us, but gets stopped by the door. A man in a chefs outfit , comes out of the kitchen, picks up the cat & goes back in the kitchen.
From what I gathered, the cat was either there to catch mice or was part of the meal
So, I sat there while trays of mystery meat came by, and I slowly sipped my Coke, until the table was finished.
So, No DIM SUM FOR ME

Sounds like the chink stereotype right out of the book. (Seriously though, don't mean offense however)

Seriously though, there are restaurants that are really good in T.O. I can make a few recommendations, and Roger can as well I assume.

Of all the times that I've been in Chinese restaurants never seen that myself. I always joked around with my non asian friends about it though.

Sounds like a plan. We have a few guys coming into T-Dot a day early or leaving a day after the Meet so we can find a time to go for a nice Asian meal. I was thinking of taking RockRolex for some Shanghai food.

Tripe is one of my favorites Thomas. There's a few places around here that make it for lunch but they usually add too many potatoes, celery and carrots to make it go farther. When my mother makes it, she doesn't put in any of that stuff. Just seasoning and it's soooooo good

Ooops! The only innards that make exception to is "tripe". I eat this steamed with ginger and some pepper.

Tripe is also good with Vietnamese Pho soup with tendon and flank... mmmm.

You gotta try it made in a light gavy (that's macaroni sauce) with some onions, garlic, parsley and basil.

Dim sum sounds good to me, also minus the innards and feet . I also don't do sweetbreads, tripe, kidneys, lungs, or brains.

I'll buy lunch if you'll buy dinner, Roger.

However, right now, I don't feel like eating anything. We just got back from our annual weekend in the mountains, and I ate myself silly on good country cooking. I've got to lose 10 pounds in the next two weeks.
