5711 steel or rose now as the prices are close?

What do you guys think? The price gap between the steel (blue dial) and rose (chocolate dial) 5711 is now more or less gone. In terms of future price development, what would you go for?

I prefer silver toned watches. I wish they made a white gold model, then I would buy that as the 5711 fits my small wrist very well. But I'm most likely to buy an SS AP, which is cheaper and easier to get.

I'd go for R. I think the SS definitely is in a massive bubble phase right now. But in terms of what I would prefer to wear - I'd pick the SS, or better yet, 5712/1A, 5990/1A or even 5726/1A above it.

Easiest choice ever, I’d go rose even at the original prices.

Buy new, there is a large price gap still - virtually double to get an R.

The question is, do you have other watches? For a daily, steel. The gold is a real stunner, but it’s more of a ‘power piece’ to me. An incredible option in a 3 watch rotation.

I agree, I would not have a gold bezel PP as my only watch. I haven't worn mine for over 2 weeks until today, and we had the sun finally out and I nearly got run over staring at it, it's such a magnificent mesmerising piece!

I'm asking for a friend who has the following currently in his collection:
Royal oak 15400st blue dial
DD40 YG

Does your friend have a preference? Both are great pieces but clearly very different on the wrist. Can't really see either is a bad move, as to what happens to prices in the long term well who knows.
If this is a long term ownership proposal I would still recommend waiting and getting either new from an AD.

If I was a rose gold lover, I'd get the 5711R all day long over the 5711 at a similar price. I've tried RG in the past and it's just not my style. It is a fantastically beautiful watch though.

Personally, I don't like the 5711 steel but I love the 5711 rose.

But between 5712 steel and 5711 rose, I will have to go for the 5712 steel.

Definitely 5711R then. I wouldn't want 2 blue dialed, steel watches in such a small collection. That would be a nice 3 watch arsenal, covers the entire spectrum! (but mayyybe a black sub to beat on too)

Rose gold won't work with my skin tone.....tried many times and cannot pull it off. But with the current secondary pricing, no brainer to buy the gold watch.

Are you sure? It shouldn't work on mine as my skin is a very similar tan colour, but as I always say the last thing I look at when I have a beautiful watch on me, is my wrist.

I know what you guys are saying and my skintone is also "tannish" being Asian and all. I've tried a lot of rose gold watches on the Rolex side especially (most recent being the big debacle between the rose or white gold 60th anniversary Day Date and ended up with the white gold) and white gold won every time for me. It's probably all in my head as mentioned but that goes for everything in this hobby I feel hah! I won't deny it though.....I can't stop admiring the beauty of rose gold and secretly lust for it.....even if my wife tells me not to cramp her style since she loves/wears rose gold jewelry.

I own a blue dial 5711 and I've always thought the R was a great looking watch but I was bothered by the color of the dial. If they brought out a new dial color for it and the 5167R (also own a 5167A), I might be in trouble.
