I know this has been done in the past: Basel news and TRF

Dear all:

Lets admit it. Some are excited, some indifferent, but in the end, we will ALL be reading about the new offerings at this unique Basel event (this year exhibit space was reduced dramatically).

As live coverage begins tomorrow at 11am CET (as per BaselWorldOfficial) we will be once again flooded with news.

As we jump into 'first hand', 'new', 'official' etc notes and images, could we have a common thread to talk about Basel instead of jumping over tens of links?

I have mixed feelings for '18 Basel; but I have to admit, this IS Christmas time for a WIS!

Cheers!!!!

Agree G. One thread would be great.

Question: 11 AM CET... What time do I set the bezel on my GMT II LNc (possibly soon to be discontinued) to in Central time in the US?

Swiss watch industry has been hurting. For 2018, changes in Basel include:

HALF of exhibitors
One THIRD less space
LESS duration of the show

I personally believe that the recent thread with like 700 posts and 50,000+ views... maybe 60,000 now is too long and I missed some stuff in there that I ended up repeating as a new thread. My personal preference is more threads with topics specified rather than one huge thread where you can't find anything unless you scroll through 50 pages.

Yeah this is a pretty crazy time for WICs and it's pure insanity for the next few days on these forums. It's kind of fun to see all the responses and reactions to the new watches. I am super excited even though any new watch purchases are way down the road for me since my wife and I just bought a new house but it is still fun to dream.

I agree. Multiple has worked well for many years on many forums. One thread would not be good.

People will still start new Basel threads even if there is one master thread. Then it would be the mods' job to try and merge them all. Not a good idea.

I was just at a Patek dealer and got to see the new dial for the 5711. Not much difference. Retail is going up to a little over $29k.

One thread would be a nightmare, would be growing insanely fast

One thread per new model maybe, but don't mind how it normally goes down.

Have to agree one thread makes no sense to me with so many releases worth talking about from different brands.

That said we can still chop it up in here...sort of like the Basel lounge 2018

I VOTE We Designate the Jocke Official Baselworld 2018 thread as the common thread to talk about Basel instead of jumping over tens of links. However, I really don't think this will work. No way to stop everyone from starting a thread.

Gerardo- Rolex will still have the HULK in their Line-Up next year. Some Enabling Words...

Trying to bring organization to the post-Basel thread flood is like herding cats with lassos of linguini -

Jocke usually weighs in and then everyone who snags a wristshot of the new model(s) will start a new thread.

The foolishness leading up to Basel is a barometer for the next few weeks’ worth of “cleverness”.
