The gist of this thread is sadly why I will likely never purchase another Rolex. Even with the ability to be in the first handful to get the new references from my AD (as I did with the new Daytona, etc.) for me it has really cast a cloud on them overall.

I’m totally fine finding my ‘solace’ in AP, Patek and Breguet.

My problem I'm a working stiff. I would have to unload my 16600 and my 114300. Then would face disappointment when I find out I $5000 - $7000 short. WTF ?!?!

If I'm going to that. I might as well save up for a used Patek or a VC overseas and just call it a day.

Sadly it the only rolex I'm actually excited about.

Disappointed in Rolex they didn't have a price rise to at least mitigate the greys, starting to think they are irresponsible now and becoming a different kind of company.

Money talks and BS walks. But for me I have a lot of time to wait. I like the SD43 and they are coming down price wise slowly and more are becoming available at some AD's rather quickly now in some cases. Pretty soon they will be near retail again IMO which will be the right time. Its unfortunate that you have to wait a few years for this to happen. Same will happen with the new Pepsi in a few years if people are patient.

I feel you. It has become a "privilege" to buy a steel watch - it is just silly and takes the fun out of buying a new piece.

That’s almost WG BLRO territory; nonsense to pay that much!

You’re right about that my friend. I’m ALREADY on that one this morning!

My point more toward the sad state of acquisition of these references. Takes a little of the fun out of it...

I'm with you, but how can you imply that this exact same thing isn't happening with AP and PP? 5711, 5164, 15202, (even 15400 now), etc.

Grey's and their Proxies have probably filled the AD's order books for a few years.

I’m really not trying to imply that at all — I think that with many of the other aforementioned references - albeit the 5711 (for now) they still remain within reach of most who may be in the market for them without a grossly over-inflated premium attached and/or unrealistic wait time.

Boutique only pieces (I.e 15202, other blue dial APs) have and will always pull a bit of a premium over normal stock...which is to be expected.

Also - I have zero issue with people flipping or the grey market (which is NOT the primary factor of this type of inflation, sorry all) — my point is more I (personally)just tend to move with the market ‘flow’ vs. against it. There are MANY other references by all manufacturers that interest me. These (thread) positions and expectations are subliminally setting the bar for a long wait and a premium, however moving with the ‘flow’ vs. against it opens up an entirely different dimension of references vs becoming pigeon hold on one reference. That’s all.

The fielding strategy of the new Pepsi is the only interest I have in it — to see how Rolex chooses to make it accessible - or not for that matter. If it falls peril to the Daytona/SkyDweller model —- it will be a long haul for some...part of the reason I think we only had that one ‘big’ release this year.

Digging the watch, really am. Excited to see it in-person at a showcase event next month. I haven't see many WG Pepsi watches out in the wild, so I personally don't know how I really feel about the bezel colors yet. What is strange to me is the gross disconnect between the colors in the marketing photos and real life footage -- colors just look so different from one another.

One thing I am sure of...this is a watch I will not even consider paying over MSRP for. There have been some days where the temptation to break down and go grey for the Daytona C is strong (still waiting with AD). I can't see that happening with this one though.

Good strategy.

Same thing I’ve told many friends about the Daytona. If you can wait — you’re in a much better position.

Whatever happened to walking into an AD, any AD and purchasing your watch from the case at MSRP or a discount?

I own 4 Rolex, never have sold a Rolex and bought two with discounts between 30 and 35% at an AD. I had NO previous “relationship “ with this AD.

I understand it’s a new game these days, so I won’t play. Someday, when the hankering comes, I’ll check on the new GMT.

I’m not even going for a “list.”

No games for me as I know the past is prologue. Rolex makes just too many watches.

YMMV

Let’s first see how hard it is to get one from an AD. If every AD can get you one......that will be the going price LOL

Every watch including Rolex, I’ve paid less then MSRP. I agree, to not play into the “list” it’s just a way to clean your pockets

It will probably be in the 18 range at which point - anyone and everyone should be getting a Royal Oak instead, IMO.

It would essentially erase any profits plus a few K if you ever sold that PO later. Food for thought

Will definitely be $15k+ (would buy a BLRO instead personally if it is $20k+)

I am tired of prices above retail in grey market/used minus vintage. Seems ridiculous and I will not pay it! I am hoping things will settle down eventually if/when inventory catches up. I will not feed the insanity. If this is the new norm going forward I will spend my money on models that give me a discount buying used or go with another brand.
