Amazing the watch is one day old and we are already complaining about the extended wait times. My guess is the ADs have no clue as to when or how many of these watches will be available.
Other than the SS Daytona the others (hulk, Blnr, sd43) were available within a reasonable time frame. I think this watch will be in the non Daytona category.

I got my SD43 mid may last year so pretty much exactly 2 months after it was announced at Baselworld

My local AD said delivery could start in May but more likely given the current experience with Rolex, Aug/Sept. So anything sooner than Aug/Sept 2018 will be a pleasant surprise. I'm on his list without a deposit given my history..

Wow! Luckily my AD doesn’t do the deposit thing. Relationship and an email , and a bit of waiting. My guess would be by Xmas the latest.

Now you must hope the RJ remains solvent for 18 months.

you put down a $5k deposit on a watch that you're schedule to get in Aug 2019!?!?

That's insane

if this August... sure why not but 2019? That's just silly

The ADs have zero visibility as to what their SS watch flow will be like.

I'm hoping for late fall/early xmas 2018 for me (no deposit), given my ADs track record with my Daytonas

I dig the watch, I really do. I made some calls this morning to get on a few lists. I certainly wouldn't put half down though if all they can do is tell me that August 2019 is the goal delivery date. For a Daytona? Maybe...

Traditionally, new models from Baselworld start to appear in ADs around May/June of same year.

I would not put a deposit down for anything other than a confirmed delivery date within a couple of months. Too many other watches out there from other brands that you could buy immediately.

This!

Actually my AD told me any watch that has a potential wait if a year or more they’re not taking CC deposits. They have a fully refundable deposit policy, but the CC companies will not allow a “return” after a year goes by.

So OP, you might be looking at store credit next year should you decide to back out.

I can't believe people are freaking out about someone putting a deposit down on a watch that will likely be worth thousands more than he will be paying. Might cost him $40 in lost interest over a year. Don't any of you you have much short term money making less than 1% interest? I'd say this deposit is a very good investment which will likely get him one of the early watches received from this AD.

Does the use of the term necessarily mean that it is made in house?

2019? That’s insane! OP, let’s hope the AD is still in business by then.
