I just noticed neither the SD43 nor the new DSSD has the crown, despite having the 3235 movement. That suggests this is a way to distinguish between new and old movements in the GMT range specifically, since both options remain available. That makes me wonder if the crown will eventually go away, once all GMTs have the new movement, or if they all will have it indefinitely. If the former, there's a collector opportunity in the making.

I kind of like the new WG BLRO with the blue dial. I'd have to look at the old and new in hand if I was gonna drop $34k on it. The instagram pic shows it with a pro bracelet - which I really like - while the Rolex.com site shows it with a jubilee bracelet - which doesn't really work for me. I've also never been a fan of the rose gold flavors...

Rolex is showing the WG BLRO on an Oyster bracelet on its website. The Jubilee is on the new SS Pepsi.

It looks a lot better than the renderings...but I can't help wonder what made them decide to blue dial on the WG rather than the SS? I'm not saying they should have but the understanding the reasoning for it would be interesting. My guess is that if someone decides they want the new dial on their 116719BLRO Rolex may oblige them since the ref hasn't changed. It's still a pickle for them; had they put this smurf dial on the 126710BLRO no one with a 719 can complain.

That’s another interesting way to look at how Rolex attempt to stamp the changes in the units they produce. Perhaps one way to look at this is how Rolex ‘manage’ the transition from the old to the new, which to the collector community and aficionados make all the difference. To the rest of the buying public, these insignificant labels are just that; insignificant.

New DSSD has the crown, think this applies to new movements from this year on.

If Rolex thought it was a slow seller before, try when adding a new movement SS BLRO and keeping the old movement in the WG version.

I'd imagine Rolex is counting on very long SS waitlists. This will cause people, with the means to do so, to get impatient and spring for the WG.

I wonder how many PM Daytonas are sold because the 116500LN waitlist is immeasurable at this point.
