Another 15400st thread..blue vs silver

Hello everyone, I've been noticing a bunch of 15400 threads lately and it's slowly pushing me to the point where I started inquiring for them. Originally I was set on the silver, but with everyone's gorgeous blue 15400s recently, it has increased my curiosity.

I am after the 15400 due to the nature of the finishing, the bracelet, and most importantly wearability. As I do not wear much blue, and am already waiting (very patiently) for the 5711 blue, would a blue 15400 be redundant? If I go silver, would I be missing out on the gorgeous blue dial? Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I’m on the Silver train. In my opinion it’s very unique to the 15400. Never had a dull angle or shine with the silver dial. The blue looks really nice on certain angles but hides it’s luster on others never really had that problem with the silver.

Another vote for silver. Really special in the 15400. Not quite white - I would say it's chameleon silver that really interacts with the light and color around.

I got silver. Mainly because it was nearly $4k cheaper going through an AD at the time vs buying new at a boutique. If buying both at MSRP I’d get blue.

Already have blue 5711 and 26331 so prefer silver. Not to mention it was my first AP (purchased by my wife for my birthday) so its not going anywhere.

This petrol blue is stunning, and the silver white is about as nice as you can get, but I don't like light colours on a SS usually, need more contrast.

Both are stunning, as well as the ruthenium. It also depends on what other pieces you have or plan on acquiring. If you have other blue dials but no white, go for the silver.

I vote for the silver on 15400/15450. It is nicer than the blue. However, the blue on 15202 trumps all 15400/15450 dials.

I quite like both, and the silver is fantastic. I always associate white dials as more formal, so it gives a good contrast to the sporty nature of the watch.

If you're getting the 5711 anyway, two blue dials might be a bit overkill. Also, if you really love blue, I'd also strongly look at the FPJ Bleu. It's hard to put into words how beautiful that dial is.

I really like either silver or black. Not a fan of this one in blue.

No questions, the blue! Unless you plan on getting the 15202 in the future.

Whilst you appear to have made your decision, I wanted to add my opinion for your consideration if I may. Each of the offered dial variants endow the 15400ST with its own character and whilst the blue dial has stronger ties to the historical lineage of the piece, the silvered white dial is truly unique to Audemars Piguet in its excellent execution. I would argue that your consideration should be made in the context of your current collection; many find themselves with several darker coloured dials and if this how your collection is formed, the silvered white dial would offer you greater variety.

i do agree with this. Silver and white dialed watches are hard to do well and there are not a lot of choices vs the typical dark dialed watches across all watches and brands. AP does silver very, very well.

Agree on both counts. One big reason why after selling it I bought it back.
