Panerai Comments

I have been wearing my 210 for a couple of weeks now.

Totally different comments from co-workers compared to when I wore a Sub.

When I wore the Rolex, I heard the following:

"How much did you pay for that?"
"How can you afford that?"
"Is it real?"
"Did you buy it in Canal Street?" (street in Manhattan where fakes can be purchased)

With the Panerai, I have heard the following:

"What time is it? I can't quite see it."
"Why are you wearing a pocket watch on your wrist?"
"That thing is huge!"

No one at work has a clue that Panerai is a luxury brand. I kind of like that.

Ain't it cool?

So far I've only had two unsolicited comments. One from a guy at a party who said, "I guess with that watch you can't use the old "I didn't know what time it was" if you're late for a meeting."

And the other was at my AD when the sales guy pointed out my watch to a guy who was considering getting a PO but was unsure of the size. He said, "you think the PO is big, look at that guy's Panerai."

Otherwise, it totally flies under the radar. I love it.

When I wear a Rolex I usually get comments like "you must be rich" or "is it real?" When I wear a Panerai I hear "nice watch" or "thats the biggest watch I've ever seen" or the request " can I try it on?"

I have had the above comments on both.
In Disneyland, on one of the dark rides, I heard the people behind me ask each other " What is that glowing thing on his wrist?"

I had a "client" comment on my Panerai, just in general, so I take it off & show him.
About 6 weeks later, I meet this fellow again, he has taken the time to research the brand, the history etc. I thought that was cool

Panerai has become very well known and common here in Bangkok. When I go window shopping at the high end malls these days I usually see several other people wearing Panerais.

Though I have gotten many nice comments about my Panerais. Usually in reference to the crown guard or the wide leather straps.

And in many parts of the world, no one will know what a Panerai watch is, where Rolex everyone knows.

Panerai ...gets many comments: Nice/big/beautiful/Wow !! etc....but,people dont know the brand,as a general rule. Those that know, always flips over and leads to a lengthy discussion

Rolex ... TT Blue Sub,got the most comments and still the nicest looking Rollie imo.

I also feel safer wearing a Panerai in public.Criminals know Rolex TOO well !!

Comments i get are usually:

Wearing Rolex = "So Ryan, did you see the boxing last night, you want to go and watch the game this afternoon then nip down the pub?"

Wearing Panerai = "So Ryan, did you see Will and Grace last night, you want to go and see Mamma Mia down the cinema this afternoon?"

Holy thread revival!

By the way, I don’t think your watch genuine.

I've had my PAM1288 for about 5 weeks, and the only comment I've gotten on it is from one of my clients who is a watch nut. It happened that the day I came in wearing mine, he was wearing his (I think it's a 1316). He noticed it and wanted to see it so I took it off for him. Most of my friends are not watch people and wouldn't know what it is.

Wouldn’t it be odd if the 210 I bought recently is one and the same as OP’s
