Is this real?

Hello, I know nothing about Rolexes. Please help, any info on whether this is real and what it may be worth would be much appreciated. This was in my late granddad's drawer.

It could well be.
A genuine President Rolex bracelet weighs 68grams and has 22 links. You have 18 links and 60g.

Don't President bracelets have solid endpieces?

Is weight the most important factor in determining if it is real?

Thank you so much for your responses. I noticed that it does not have the 8385 stamp and also the end pieces did not have the 55BG stamps like some of the ones I've seen on the internet. I don't know if that matters or if it's even required. Is weight the most important factor?

Thank you for response. I noticed that it does not have the "8385" stamp and it also does not have the "55BG" stamps on the end links. Is this important or is weight mostly the determining factor as to its authenticity? Also, I am not able to count 18 links and I'm thinking I don't know how to properly count it. What exactly counts as a link? is it the combination of all three pieces in the band?

Thanks for your response. I notice that the end piece were different from others that I have seen on the internet. Also, it does not have the "55BG" stamp that I have seen on other bracelets. Is that important to have?

I do recall seeing another stamp on the president clasp. I think it is stamped horizontally versus the others that are vertical. Rolex probably used a number of different clasp codes over the years. Hopefully someone a little more familiar with president bracelets will chime in. Or you can take it to a local watchmaker familiar with Rolex and get their opinion.

Not sure about stamps, but the weight says it’s gold. If it was plated steel it would weigh much less. If it’s gold that’s a good start.
Could still be fake though.

Thanks. I took it to a Rolex store and they said it was fake. The links uses pins instead of screws and overall quality was not Rolex standards. I appreciate all your responses.

You will know if your grandad was the sort of guy who could afford to and would wear a solid gold Rolex Day-Date worth over $30,000. I never met the chap.

Great point. What he should know about his granddad would tell him for sure.
