DIY Submariner Bezel Repair?

saw a guy at work fiddling with his Submariner & a roll of dental floss...when I asked him what he was doing, he replied that he was fixing a loose/wobbly Sub bezel by wrapping dental floss between the bezel & upper case.

while this approach seemed kind of half-assed, I wondered...(1) do/can Submariner bezels loosen up over time; (2) is dental floss a cost-effective/harmless remedy; (3) what would it cost to simply have it repaired properly?

never had to deal with this issue myself as the bezel on my watch is non-movable.

The bezel on a sub is super easy to remove, there is a washer under the bezel that takes up the slack and keeps it tight, might be as easy as replacing it, part is probably 20 bucks and is easy to do or would be quite cheap to have a qualified person do it - either way, dental floss might tighten it up, but really is a ghetto solution.

Is this a plastic crystal Sub? If so, Rolex made a special tool to adjust them.
