I finally got the call!
I will (finally) be making my very first Rolex purchase -- Milgauss Z-blue! I've been on several waitlists in New York City since last April (no luck), as well as the surrounding areas (Princeton, etc.). I even tried my luck in Barcelona, Spain, when visiting over the summer. Nada.
Last spring, several of the AD's that I spoke to were very confident they'd secure the watch within "2-3" months (one even said give it a few weeks). That obviously never came to fruition. About 2 weeks ago, another local AD told me they haven't received Milgauss shipments for many months, which he attributed to either (1) an update of the model that may be forthcoming, which he thought was likely, or (2) a discontinuance of the model altogether, which he doubted. Anyway, he was not at all optimistic of seeing anything trickle in during the short term. I was visiting family in Houston in late October. I decided it wouldn't hurt to stop by an AD in that neck of the woods. Time well spent! The store manager was extremely confident that she'd track one down by the end of the year (I've heard that before). Well, she was right! The call came today. I can't wait to get my hands on the new watch this week. Obviously I have no buying experience with any of the AD's, which likely decreased my chances exponentially of snagging the watch. That said, I've been following the posts on this forum for months looking for tips, tricks or anything else to help me in the process. It truly is an awesome forum. It turns out that all I needed was a lot of luck :-) |
