Potential trade

Hey everyone. I’m considering trading my speedy ultraman for a new blue dial DJ 36 with jubilee and smooth bezel.

Wanted to hear what everyone thought about the trade.

How much cash are you getting in addition to the ultra man?

Wouldn’t be getting any money back. I would need to add a couple hundred.

Isn’t the Ultraman worth a little more than a DJ? I could be mistaken.

I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t even do it if I was getting money and the DJ for my ultra man. What kind of trade value is being placed on your ultra man and what condition is it in?

If you like the DJ more go for it. But make sure you get a good deal. I don’t think you should be adding cash for that trade - fluted, maybe.

the Crown is alluring!! i have been considering trading an omega for a rolex lately myself. Go with whatever sings to you more, the few bucks out of your pocket will be forgotten shortly if you really love the DJ

I am two ways about this. If you are not wearing and enjoying the watch, then move it on. I would however not do so on impulse and wait 3-4 months to see if you are feeling that way. Now, the ultra man is limited, the DJ is probably Rolex most masses produced model and not difficult to get in normal non-covid conditions.

I owned the Ultaman and while I liked it, it was not at the top of my list. I found that I liked the 44.25 mm Speedmaster Racing with the black dial and orange accents better. Owned both for a minute but then moved the Ultraman on. The prices on a sell or trade are not as strong as a LE piece should be, but it is still early in the Ultraman's life. Get your best deal and buy what you want and will wear. A few hundred dollars either way is not a deal breaker for me. Good luck.

I would not do it. 2 very different watches, so may depend on if you want a chrono or a dressier watch. However, I think the Speedy is the better watch.

Usually trading Omega for Rolex = GREEN LIGHT, but in this case...not really.

If it was DJ41 would be better..

Thanks for all the feedback. I still use and enjoy the Ultraman, I do like the new DJs with the slimmer lugs. I have a 36mm explorer and really like the size.

You have an Explorer 1, 36 mm? Now I definitely say no trade!

If you like the size of a 36mm, getting rid of the 42mm makes sense to me.

I wouldn’t do it. I think you have a much more unique watch. Might be worth even more as time goes on.

Couldn’t you just sell the ultraman and buy a brand new DJ straight up? And wouldn’t even need to pay the extra hundreds.

I am really not too familiar with the Ultraman, but searching chrono 24 and I can’t find many under $9k. I just bought that exact DJ 2 weeks ago, but it was the DJ41, for cheaper than that. And the 36 is even cheaper. Like only $7,300 MSRP I believe. I’m not sure what your local situation is, but both the ADs I went to the last few weeks had no shortage of DJ36s. I think you could deal with each watch individually and actually come out ahead.

If you are still enjoying wearing the Ultraman, don't do it. It is a really cool watch.

Is the DJ bi-metal or just SS? Also, how big is your wrist? Do you mind the smallness of the 36mm?
I probably wouldn't do this trade

Not sure if I would do the trade. The DJ36 is about $7500, I think the Ultraman worths more

DJ is SS. My wrist is about 6.75. When I first got the exp 1 it felt way too small, after a few days it felt perfect. I still rotate between my 40mm and 42mm watches. I’ll be honest the 36mm is a great fit.

Either way I decided to hold off on any trade since I still really enjoy wearing my Ultraman.

I love the DJ but I would do this. Would rather add one than trade for it. If you do trade, definitely wouldn’t add cash and would probably expect some in return instead.
