Rolex watchband is tight - simplest solution?

I recently picked up a mid-1980's Rolex Datejust with a stainless steel jubilee bracelet. I can wear it but its a bit tight. Whats the easiest solution? Do I need to take it to a Rolex dealer to have the band adjusted? Should I just purchase a couple links via eBay and see if a local jeweler will add them on for me?

Thank you in advance
Jim

Have you tried the micro adjust positions in the clasp? If not, try that first. If still too tight then yeah, you’ll have to buy more links. EBay is fine if you know what you’re doing. Otherwise go through a local AD.

I don’t believe the 80s models have micro adjustments at the clasp
Your best bet is buying extra links. Check the classified section on here, they sometimes become available
Just careful when you’re buying and make sure you buy from a reputable seller
Good luck and congratulations on your watch!

Also a pry bar for stretching the bracelet. Problem solving at its finest. Lol

In all seriousness, add a link. Your AD should be able to supply you with one as well as install it.

I'd suggest checking with a Rolex AD and show them what you have and if needed they will make sure you get exactly what you need.

Of course they do ....look at the side of the clasp...see those little holes? Those are to make micro adjustments ...try this before spending money on links

Second that. It would a shame to buy some links on Ebay and have them not work with your particular bracelet or worse, be aftermarket.

Also, the AD's are the pros (usually) when it comes to fitment of your watch.

Good luck,

thank you

A huge "thank you" to everyone for their input and suggestions. I took it to the local AD this morning and she adjusted the clasp and it fits perfectly - no need for extra links and no charge for service.

Thanks again
Jim
