My new “Who Dey” Omega
Since I’m turning 40 in February I decided to treat myself with a second watch that I could rotate with my Explorer, something more casualI. I started looking for another Rolex, but none of them really scratched my itch, so I started looking at other brands / styles which lead me to Omega. So I looked up Authorized Dealer location on their website so I could go try some on since I was so unfamiliar with the line.
The local AD was very professional & accommodating even though I had never stepped foot in their door before. They let me try on many different models that I liked, but this 43.5 Planet Ocean spoke to me, I loved it at first sight! I can completely understand how this color scheme might turn some away, however I love it! Needless to say by my user name I’m a Cincinnati Bengals fan (I know, it’s a curse) so the color scheme was perfect for what I was looking for. I have read a lot of opinions on how the watch was a little too large, but I have a 6 3/4” wrist and I really like the way this watch wears on me. Personally I think this watch fits me better than the 40mm Sub no date I tried on the same day I bought this PO. All in all I think this watch was perfect choice for what I was looking for & I’m looking forward to years of enjoyment with this one. Before I go though I do have a couple questions if someone could help me please, 1)Can I use a 22mm strap on this case even though it’s 21mm? Barton watch straps says I can?? 2) Do you have a strap manufacturer you recommend? 3) Do I need 1.5 or 1.8 diameter springbars? Thank you all in advance for your help! P.S. I’m already researching for my next Omega! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Beautiful watch! The omega nato’s are really nice, I’d try one. Wear in good health

Love it! Going orange on the Planet Ocean is the way to go, I think. It fits your wrist very nicely. You probably haven't had much time to track its timekeeping yet, but you can expect the caliber in that watch to perform very precisely.
I'm not sure of springbar size, but I think I would try to stick with 21mm straps when possible. A 22mm strap that's pliable enough might work, though. Check to see what else Omega may have, as there have been different iterations of the orange Planet Ocean over the years, and there may be other straps that work well with your watch. For instance, I recall a black rubber strap with orange stitching that was constructed in a padded, domed fashion just like traditional leather straps and made to work with the Omega deployant. Also, a number of other current Omega models use 21mm straps (I think the ceramic cased Speedmasters do). As for aftermarket brands of straps, I like some of the offerings from Hirsch and Camille Fournet. Speaking of Speedmasters, maybe one would be appropriate for the next milestone birthday. This one was from my wife on my 50th :-) IMG_1493 by Tony Cariffe, on Flickr |

Congratulations on picking up the PO. I think Omega did an awesome job with build quality and aesthetics of this watch. Looks great!
The OEM straps are very good quality and incredibly comfortable to wear. They're an easy recommendation. As mentioned, there should be a good range of different options to fit 21mm width from which to choose. |

Congratulations on the PO, it was my recent first Omega choice too. I think it's hard to choose between the Blue, Black and Black/Orange options as they all look great. I guess it depends on the main purpose for the watch, with the Black/Orange being a superb sports and casual option. As has already been said, expect incredible accuracy from the METAS movement.

Congratulations! Awesome watch. I just bought the 42mm version. The 21mm strap size is tough. The Omega straps are really nice but a bit pricey. The Planet Ocean line is what drew me to Omega in the first place. You will be very happy.

Congrats, great watch. You think you have it bad? Try being a Lions fan, no watch alive can be water resistant enough for all the tears shed for them the last million years. Even expansion teams have made it to the Super Bowl!
