Poor polishing?

Do people care in general when buying a used watch if it has been polished? Or do people prefer unpolished?

prefer unpolished more than polished IMO.

That was last week, I have had lots of advice given was to wear of metal you need a buffing machine

With enough time and enough force I'd think that you can still "over polish" a watch by hand...

polishing will always remove metal vinny.. doesn't matter if it's a little bit of metal or alot.. if you polish your watch every week then you're overdoing it.. your watch is gonna be thinner with every polish.. once every 6 months with light polishing using cape cod is better..

I would disagree. It can, and has been done. One only need to do a search for examples of over-zealous polishing done at the hands of forum members.
