Datejust movement question

Good evening,

I have a question regarding my Datejust purchased last summer(style # 116200 G-series serial number) I thought it had the 3135 movement but my friend and fellow Rolex enthusiast told me he thinks it's the 3186. Can someone shed some light on this?

3186 can be found in the 116710 or last couple batches of 16710. Your friend is wrong.

Your 116200 should have the 3135 with blue parachrom hair spring. All in all, it's really the same movement that debuted more than twenty years ago.

Don't forget the 3186 is also in the new GMT IIc range.

Then your friend has little Rolex knowledge the cal 3185 3186 3187 are used with watches that have a second time zone feature like the GMT, and Explorer11.Your DJ has the cal 3135 which has been in production since 1988/9 and which all the current line up is based on except the chronographs. Now remove the date complication its a cal 3130 add a daydate complication its a 3155 add a parachrom and paraflex its a 3156.And add second time zone its a 3185 slightly mod with slightly thicker movement for the modded detent gear and parachrom hairspring its a 3186 now add the paraflex shock system it becomes a cal 3187.
