Sub LV 16610 missing hand tag

Throughout my search for my LV , I came across a few Lv's missing the handtag with the serial number and Lv indication. One of them was an early f serial by the way.
How important is this handtag and would you buy this particular model without one. The reason I'm asking is because I saw a thread once when someone stated how important this is to indicate the Lv model.

A missing hangtag is nice to have but not seriously significant in the purchase of an LV IMO.

So through the serial number Rolex knows it was sold an LV model ? This would be ridiculous to depend on a stupid handtag for authenticity. I know the newer serials have it on the plastic warranty cards and this is one of the reasons I prefer the newer.

I'm pretty sure the watch will still work without the handtag.

Not important.

I would not buy one without verifying the number.
Yes, rolex can tell from the number. Some un scrupulous sellers have converted y and f series 16610 watches with an lv insert and maxi dial to cheat people. A real hangtag will have lv written on it.
Here is mine for reference so you know what to look for.

I place no importance on hangtag...if the watch is an LV Rolex knows it.

Can it really be that easy to source a maxi dial and green insert? And would it be worth the cost? It's not that the LV's are that much more expensive than the standard sub....

My AD's just giving me back the red chronometer tag. He said the green tag goes back to Rolex for inventory control. Is this the policy in Canada?

If the LV hang tag did not come with the watch it would not be a deal breaker for me as you wear the watch not the tag. Btw you know it's an authentic Sub LV and so does Rolex and that's all that matters!!!

Thanks question answered. As long as Rolex knows it left the assembly line as an LV that's all I need to know.

BTW I bought a Z serial with papers and stupid little hand tag yesterday. Great watch.

The hangtag with the barcode is an inventory tool.. nothing more..

Yes, some dealers do keep it for when they do their inventory of items sold; others scan the barcode and give it to you..

However, if you are counting on an easily made bit of paper stuck to a green plastic tag as some sort of verification, or importance, then you are in for a potential rude awakening..
