Incoming 1803

I’ve been looking to fill the President-sized hole in my collection for a while. I have been looking for watches without the bracelet, to reduce the price and “bling factor” a bit.

While I’ve tended towards champagne and, especially, gray dials, I haven’t found one with a case that I was happy with at a fair price. I was searching yesterday and found this silver-dialed watch for a reasonable price on Paul Duggan’s website. Despite the dial looking white-ish in pictures, I pulled the trigger and she arrived today.

I love the classic style of the 1803 and am happy with the case. The silver dial isn’t too white in person, but I might continue to keep my eye out for the right gray dial President to trade this one for.

What do you all think of the silver dial? (Excuse the poor pictures and lighting)

I like it ! Like you I like the leather band { less Bling } idea, that's what I would choose too.

Congrats OP!! Great pick-up

I did the same, I didn’t want the extra attention of the bracelet either but I went with the 18038.

Excellent 1803. Love the silvery dial!
You can dress these up or down as you want. I've found that they even look good on a brown leather NATO for a nice casual style. Some may say a Day Date on a NATO is sacrilege, but I say this...

Very nice! A lot of times this model is over polished or blinged out. Yours is a terrific period correct piece. I like the dial, nice and classic, sophisticated, understated. I've been looking at that model too because of it's price point. You can find a lot of them and some for a very good price. But you have weed out a lot. For now, my nose is pressed against the candy store window for a bit and having to look at yours You landed a solid one! Enjoy!

Very nice, especially the case. Finding a case that nice is probably harder than finding the dial you want. Have you considered just looking for the dial and then having a watchmaker change it for you. I've done that in the past and that's what I'd do with this case. Just another option to consider.

In and event, nice watch - enjoy it!

That's a good point. The case was a big reason I pulled the trigger. I forget that these dials are so plentiful, though I would have to keep the original dial to be able to put it back to how it was born.

I think the only other thing would be the day and date wheels - the gray and champagne dials have a darker background I believe. Might be hard to find dial, hands, and wheels all matching.

Thanks everyone for the positive validation / enabling...

Great piece and congrats! I have the Presidential bug myself. I picked up my YG 1803 in Dec and now I’m craving a nice WG DD next.

Wow what a beauty. You need to find a wideboy handset to complete it. Well done!

.... the 1803 is always a "must have" watch, congrats

I love the WG 1803 with a "no lume dial"
