Newbie here! 5512 / 5513 Online Retail Sites

Hi Everyone,

Apologies in advance if I ask something that has already been covered. I tried searching but didn't see any posts directly.

Bob's Watches and HQMilton seem to be legit sites. Pricing wise, they also seem fair. Are these the two "biggest" sites when finding vintage subs? As new as I am..I simply don't trust myself enough to go onto eBay- there's just too much uncertainty for my taste and I'm willing to pay somewhat of a fair "premium" for guaranteed authenticity.

I'm looking at getting either a 5512 or 5513. I've done about 30+ hours of research and I think I'm getting the hang of all the history, variations, etc. Has anyone taken a look at Bob's or HQM lately? I want to daily wear this thing so I'm not looking to get a Gilt or anything like that. Thoughts?

thank you guys!

Personally, I wouldn’t put Bob’s in the same league as HQ Milton. You’re wise to avoid eBay, particularly if you’re not an expert. You’re missing out, however, if you aren’t browsing the classifieds here. Go with a trusted seller with lots of good feedback and you’ll be happy. BTW, both of the above sellers sell on the classifieds here too.

It's a sticky post at the top of this sub forum called list of vintage dealers. There are a bunch referenced.

Do they service the watch at Hq Milton and Bobs prior to sell? Just wondering.

I've had good experiences with both Kirill Yuzh www.lunaroyster.com and Michael Morgan www.iconicwatchcompany.com

HQ Milton is also highly regarded.

Hq Milton has an in-house watchmaker that does services.

haha, I see that already. I love juxtaposition so...would love to have a vintage and a modern 5513/114060 next to each other....or just save and get a better condition 5513 or 5512.

Are 5512's that much more desirable and valuable? I know they're rarer...but the market makes it seem like they're crazy rare.

A meters first 5512 is a pretty rare bird.

For all I know, this may be true, but they do not state that their watches are serviced, their watches are sold as-is, and they do not offer a mechanical warranty. They only state that each watch is "thoroughly inspected". This is not a criticism, because they are completely transparent about this.

You may be missing out to be discounting a gilt sub. These are as wearable day to day as any matte dial and are just stunning in person. Here’s mine:
