Here's a pic of my SD. Now before you all go hollering "Frankenwatch"....the red Yachtmaster hand was added for practical reasons. Although it looks cool too(IMO), that's not why I did it. Hopefully you'll enjoy.........

Thanks JJ. The strap is one of those practical enhancements too. The SD bracelet, even with the L link installed, isn't long enough to comfortably go over my dive suit. I flip back and forth between the NATO and bracelet but I keep it on a NATO mostly since I dive a lot.

The red hand is a nice touch. I wonder if I could put that red hand on my TT DJ. You guys really got my creative juices flowing on customizing my watch. Thanks

You call it "customizing"....some might prefer "bastardizing"....but hey, who cares.....if you're having fun, we love it!!

Looks pretty cool!

Larry, Rolex would service, but at the cost of the seconds hand.

JJ...Dry suits get thick by the time you add the undergarmets, the suit itself, dry gloves and liner, etc.

Even with a wetsuit if you have gloves with cuffs and most have some type of velcro wrist strap. The whole thing thickens up pretty quick.

My Authorized Rolex Watchmaker at the AD did it for me. He's pretty cool and understands how much I use the watch for diving. He realizes that the WG/rhodium hands against a black dial are flawed especially regarding the seconds hand, so he's happy to do it.

I love this watch on a standard NATO. It does make it sit up a bit higher but is incredibly comfortable. So comfortable, I'm able to sleep with it on which I can't do with a bracelet. If the strap was thicker, say a Zulu, Rhino or Waterbourne, then it would probably sit too high. It's like this watch was made for NATOs.

This watch is well beyond the warranty but Mike's right, Rolex won't service it without changing the YM hand back to the white gold variant.

For me this isn't a problem because my watchmaker is Rolex certified and authorized so he can do everything mechanical that a RSC can do except service the HRV. Of cource I still have the original hand, so when and if it does need to go to a RSC, we'll just put the original hand back on before sending it off.

I think the old adage, "A man needs a forgiving priest, a clever accountant and a good doctor" ahould be ammended to add, "...and a open-minded watchmaker with a Rolex parts account!"

This is a great modification, I'd happily see it done on my SD, but no go here.........

Best, and great photos mate,

Chris
