Aftermarket bezel

I just got an aftermarket diamond baguette bezel for a gift that was designed to fit "all GMT, GMT II, and submariners."Is this true? I have a two tone submariner circa 2005 pre all the new updates and I have a two tone GMT IIC circa 2009 post the updates. I guess my question is can I put the bezel on either watch and or do I need a conversion kit or some type of special gaskets for the particular watch I decide to install on? I will take it to a jeweler for installation too. Thanks for taking the time to answer

Well if it's a bezel made for 40 mm watches it surely will fit both your Sub and GMT since they're the same size, however I'm not sure you can change a GMT-IIc's bezel insert (experts will have to answer that question for me). Having said that, it's supposed to be rather easy to change a bezel insert (a couple of Youtube videos show you how) but if you're worried about damaging it you should probably get it to a jeweler.

By the way, welcome to TRF! I hope you'll have a lot of fun around here and don't forget to post pictures once the job is done.

.
It will most probably fit your 16613 but not your ceramic 116713. It would be OK for a 16710/16713.

Ceramic bezels aren't easily removable, without breaking them, and you need special tools to remove/mount them properly.

Thanks for input .... It is made for a 40mm watch I was pretty confident it would fit the sub but didn't know about GMT 2c bezel....... So a ceramic bezel cannot be switched out or changed ever?

That's a different story then, I'm pretty sure all bezels can be put off a watch but, again, a watchmaker or a jeweler may be better at doing it without scratching it than you if you're not comfortable with this "operation". As well, Christophe didn't quite say it was impossible but rather difficult to remove a ceramic bezel insert, the reason being that it might break in the process if you don't know how to do it.

Looking forward for some pictures! You can either post them as Attachments (see the paper clip button in the section above the reply window) or post the link in the box that appears when you click on "insert picture" in the same section. The second option allows you to post bigger images but you need a Photobucket, Flickr or another type of those websites account!
