Favorite Cheapy?

I got this Timex not too long ago at Walmart for $30. I loved the simple, classic case and very elegant dial, and dark brown faux-croc strap.

When I was messing with the crown, I accidentally found that pushing it turns on a pale green "indiglo" light that is simply FANTASTIC to behold. That sealed the deal for me.

Crappy low-light iPhone pics attached.

What's your favorite cheapy?

I'm afraid I do not own what you call a "cheapy", I do not want to sound like an arrogant man but I do have the intention of getting myself a nice G-Shock and perhaps a Bulova or two (the Precisionist is a very nice piece and perhaps an automatic Accutron would be a good addition as well!).

By the way, that lume on your Timex is very nice!

I currently only own 1 watch...SubC. My favorite cheapy use to be the Suunto Vector (not really that cheap) until it was lost in Afghanistan. It was a very functional piece.

I don't know about you guys, bu I have always been incredibly impressed how well Seiko makes there watches. I had an automatic diver's watch from Seiko that I lost at the gym a few years ago that last me 11 years with zero repairs!

Seeing as my collection is what I call eclectic and Nancy calls a hodge podge , I have a few cheapies. It'd be a tossup between the Alpha chrono (Padi has his tweaked in within COSC specs), and my trusty old Invicta Sub. The Sub looks kind of beat up now, but it still chugs along.

Would have to be an Orient Mako. Either the Blue Mako with its iridescent dial or a black Mako on a Bond NATO. Fantastic value for £100/$150

Probably has to be my Seiko Monster Automatic. Bought it new for $169 included the rubber strap too. My Citizen Eco-Drive ($400 with a discount) use to be my daily wearer since 2005 and I have Fossil (a gift) too that I still wear on occasion.

Just got one of those myself. Automatic movement invocation sub for $83 on amazon.com. Awesome little watch. Been wearing it for a couple days now.

I think it shows that something can still look great and not need to cost the earth. A few of those I'd quite happily wear!

I got plenty of "cheapies"....but I like them so they're not beaters....but granted my "better" watches see a hell of a lot more wrist time.

I love my $70 all black swatch....but it's tough telling the day/date haha When i bought it the clerk asked me if I wanted to buy a swatch warranty...I was like buddy, it's a $70 watch, when the battery runs out I'll throw it away.

My favorite cheapy. A Sturhling Skeleton watch. Cost me a whopping $50 brand new in the box with genuine Chinese automatic movement. I just liked the looks of it, and didn't want to spend bigger bucks on a Chronoswiss or similar Swiss brand for a watch that's hard to read. Excellent for looking half decent in situations where one might feel uncomfortable wearing a pricey watch.

Seiko quartz with the stopwatch/tachymeter function. It just hangs on the shifter waiting for track days now, but its a great lap-timer!

My Dennis Rudy built FF homage, not a "cheapy," but less expensive than most in the collection.

And then my Noah Fuller Seiko mod

Here are mine:

Orient 2ER, which I just got yesterday.

Seiko 5, with strap mod.

Much respect for both Seiko and Orient (which is still owned by Seiko, but still...).

That is a lovely looking watch.

I really need to look into getting a watch for those sort of situations as well.

Off-topic... Stuhrling actually has a Tourbillon available for I think around $500. Pricey for a Chinese watch... but it's a genuine Tourbillon for < $100k!
