Warranty extended to 5 years for Rolex watches after July,1

.

I just learned that Rolex is extending its warranty period from 2 to 5 years for all watches sold after July,1 2015.

All watches sold from July,1 2013 to June,30 2015 will get an extra one year warranty extension.

This is confirmed for France, and supposedly for the whole Europe. I don't have this information for the US.

That's good news. I would think it would be worldwide, since Rolex warranties are international. If not, then everyone in the US will want European Rolexes from re-sellers. This also means my Italian
Milgauss, which is due to run out of warranty next month, is good for another year, I guess.

That is great information. After reading this I called my local ad and left a message enquiring about US warranties, but I agree with above. I am inclined to think it would be the same since they are international. Will update once they open at 10 EST

I'm glad they did this. It just one ups Omega's 4 year warranty. Just adds more value to each Rolex. I wonder if this is also to deter Grey Market purchases?

I guess this could potentially leave re-sellers with some undesirable stock on their hands. Bad luck for anyone who bought a Rolex recently, too.

That's great and also a bit annoying if you bought a watch recently.

If this turns out to be true, it means that everyone should stop buying watches until after July 1st.

I wonder if ADs will be telling people that for the next three weeks.

Perhaps a bit upsetting to recent buyers but that goes with the territory. the alternative is for companies to never make any improvements to their products just to avoid pissing off recent purchasers or avoid a temporary decline in revenues for a couple of weeks until it goes into effect. Very smart move giving an extra year to anyone still under warranty.

I have funny feeling this is one change they aren't going to keep quiet about. This is great news and tells me Rolex has a lot of confidence in the new movement...and the new low mag cyclops.

Interesting. This tells me that 5 year service intervals might be going to 6+. They might be trying to take a poke at Omega and their higher service intervals.

They need to have a grace period for people who recently purchased new watches.

Ideally the 5 year warranty should apply to anyone who bought a watch in 2015, but I doubt they would do that. A three month grace period for new watch owners seems fair. If this new policy starts on July 1st, they should extend the five year warranty to all watches purchased after April 1st.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the stock that our trusted sellers have. They can't exactly run out and get new warranty cards. Are we going to see lower prices after July 1st on the watches that they already have?

They'd probably not say that but instead rushing people to grab a few as price increase is approaching fast!

Just got off the phone with a rolex boutique and was told they heard nothing of this (in NYC). Wondering if they are playing dumb until July 1st or if they actually haven't heard anything. I was told as far as anyone knew they are sticking with the two year international warranty.

Who knows how it will all settle out; I suspect that it will end up being applied to all as it finally settles out due to the amount of inventory out there.
