It's about time.

I wonder what changes they will make to honoring warranty if your name is not on the card?

I just had to have a watch I bought in April fully serviced under warranty. When I got it back they said the warranty was extended to three years by letter from Joanne Russo at RUSA. Good will or did they know it would be extended anyway?

That beats a jab in the eye. I just bought a new one in May. I assume I'll get an extra year.

The retroactive year is the way they try to avoid annoying recent purchasers.

I fully expect not to need warranty service in the first place, but nice to have it. I'd bet the speculation is right, and if a defect doesn't show up in the first year or maybe two, there aren't going to be any.

The date written on the warranty card for my 14060m is July 1, 2013. So I just slipped in under the wire to get an extra year!

A 5-year warranty could align nicely with a global price increase. There may be more to this than we know... yet.

Chaps

This forum is littered with "chaps in the know" who have heard from a truly impeccable source that Rolex are about to impose a price increase and then this is followed by the usual wailing and gnashing of teeth.

How much does it take to accept the fact that the internet just feeds these gormless rumours.

Until Rolex official announce it formally, it is just another figment of the imagination.

Regards

Mick

I asked a UK AD about it this morning and he said he believes it is coming here, yes.

Similar here.

Spoke to an AD who confirmed that this is a strong rumour.

If it's true, timing is great as I'm looking to get a 216570 or 116300 this summer. I can wait another couple of weeks.

It is highly lightly that it will come with a price increase :(

Good for marketing as it will cost them very very little in repair cost.

My figures which I pulled from thin air, but an educated guess.

1% or less of watches will be returned for warranty in the first 2 years.

Of those, 95% of those will be within the first 6 months.

Extending the warranty from 2 to 5 years may double the number of warranty claims, but a vast majority of those claims will just be a simple regulation rather than overhaul.

But currently (without the offer of the official extension of your warranty) if your Rolex needed repairs Rolex would do it under goodwill.

Good marketing move by Rolex to say they back up their watches.

I agree. It is good marketing. Never had a problem with a Rolex. I assume the smart warranty card was needed to implement this also. No more blanc warranty cards.

lol you might want to pay attention a little more maybe look through some of alpino's old posts and see how correct he normally is.

You can also usually tell who is actually "in the know" because they never mention how they are "in the know"
