Too many options!

Guys, I'm looking for a bit of input from the masses here as to some options rattling around in my head. I've been offloading quite a few watches over the last few months with the idea of consolidating into one or two "chunkier" acquisitions.

That process has nearly run its course and I'm down to a few options that are pulling me this way and that...

Option 1 - Platona - the Daddy of the Rolex range IMO. Stunning watch and the bracelet and robustness of it mean it can be worn every day. Downside is that you can have a steel one, which is not as nice but still... for £8,250 (plus premium). So its a lot of money for the material and nicer (imo) colour scheme, plus the exclusivity.

Option 2 - 5960P - I've loved the 5960P for a long time. It has the Patek brand/mystique, has more complications and I think it's a beautiful piece. Downside is that it is less usable (leather) and service costs will be greater (and likely required more often).

Option 3 - Rose Gold DD40 and pocket the difference for whatever pops up on my radar next - I love the DD40 in RG and think it is stunning on the anniversary green dial. It is a timeless classic. Downside is also related to its looks. It is too flash for me to wear every day, so would be solely weekends and holidays. Also, I can't help but think the RG is not the perfect colour for my pasty Scottish skin tone!

Ultimately I'm going to have to make this decision myself but I'm throwing it open to the floor to see if anyone has any thoughts that tip me one way or the other.

***Thanks to the owners of the pics I have ruthlessly liberated from google as reference material.

Also, for a bit of context the main pieces that will be left in my collection are;

5711 blue dial, Sub 16610LV, 8-day Portuguese, a couple of Speedies, a couple of Datejusts and 3 Tudor BBs (Blue, Red and Black)

Know what you mean. Any of these watches should mean I'm done, but I'm scared to get to that stage because I love this hobby so don't ever want to be done.

I voted PP as they are a super special piece and my grail watch that I will never own unless I win a major amount of cash.

Not a fan of PM watches but each to their own, I know that. If you had a Rolex on your wrist I would be impressed if you had a PP on your wrist I would be extremely impressed and know the guy wearing knows his onions, so to speak

I love that DD.... but if platona is a choice, that one always.

If I were you, I'd keep consolidating until I had the platona, that exact DD40 and your 5711.

I'd go Patek for that money. It's a beautiful piece.

And I know what you mean also. Picking up a grail piece like the platona can be a great opportunity to try less expensive but equally as impressive brands. There are so many great watch brands to try. Tudor is priced very competitively and has some beautiful offerings, the pelagos is one of my favorite watches.

Daytona for me. Love that ice blue and brown combination. In fact, I wish they did that combo in a more affordable steel watch.

PP does have a certain cachet about it, no doubt. Rightly or wrongly it is easy to assume that the wearer is a "proper" watch guy.

Not a terrible idea by any means...

I'd consider it in WG, and do like it in WG very much. My only thing is that in WG it is maybe a bit too close to SS DJ to feel special long term. Platona is set apart by its very obvious colour scheme and the PP is what it is. I'm not a fan of the non-fluted bezel on the plat DD40.

As you can see from my retained collection I'm a massive fan of what Tudor are doing these days. I think they're some of the best value luxury watches out there just now.

To me, the Platinum Daytona is the ultimate Rolex.

This is where i'd go.

If you haven't already - go and try it on!!

Since you already have a PP and Rolex, why not add an AP?

I sold a 15300 RO as part of the consolidation. I just always picked the 5711 over it.

I would suggest the DD40 in green or choco, and the D500 or an Aquanaut.

The platinum daytona would be my pick as you already have a Patek and the DD would be a bit too flashy.

add to this the fact that during service you will be without it for about a year maybe more

but if you can live with that i would go patek

Judging from pieces you have selected, it is a good problem to have. I'll take PP.

Go with the Patek and have ABP or CF make you a sailcloth strap so that it's more weather resistant.

I would go one of these options. Really, I believe I would go green DD first, and then later on either a D500 or platona, depending on availability of funds. And, if you decide D500, then by waiting a while, hopefully will help on the premium.

Why didn't I think of that

But honest OP, if you want Daytona, just grab a 116500 and toss in that green dial DD40 and you're set.

i would narrow it down to 2 choices

A) DD40 + 116500
B) Patek

if you think about it , the Patek has the chrono that the Daytona brings and the day-date that the DD40 has; kind off killing 2 birds with one shot

All the suggestions including 116500 are great but sadly I'm nowhere near top of a list and its trading at c.£5.5-£6k over list!!
