WG Sub vs WG GMT
Hi guys, I'm looking for a new daily wearer Rolex. Has to be WG as I've found that SS isn't for me when it comes to Rolex. Just love the heft and balance of PM.
I thought about the new DD40 with green dial but I prefer the sportiness and adjustability of the oyster bracelet. Also already have a Platona so WG Daytona is out. Between the two which would you pick? I've seen them both irl but never together at the same time and keep going back and forth. |

I really like the bezel on the 116719BLRO. However, you can't go wrong with the Smurf either. Both good choices so I can see why you're having trouble.

I prefer the Sub due to the glidelock clasp. However the GMT is my favorite complication.

I don't know why but the W/G GMT just doesn't grab me the Sub on the other hand has had me considering if life would really be that bad with only one testicle.

I'd go with a nice 5513. Good luck.

Of the two the GMT seems to pull off the extra case better with its busier dial and bezel and PCL. I'm not keen on either.

given that you have a sport watch with the platona, I really would reconsider the Day date with green dial...as thats a really unique piece that IMHO is completely daily-able. The WG sport watches otherwise aren't too thrilling to me.

WG sub
somehow the blue looks indigo and the red looks purplish on the GMT. i think they still haven't gotten the colours right. |

And, the pre-ceramic alu insert on the GMT Master II looks $$$, fresh and colorful compared to the bland new red/blue ceramic insert. |

Definitely the Sub for me. The glossy blue dial and bezel are a match made I heaven. Though I love the GMT function the ceramic dial on the BLRO just doesn't do it for me. The blue ain't quite blue; and the red ain't quite red. It was a bit of a disappointment for me.

BLRO for sure..... truth be told, and I know it's sacrilege on TRF, but the WG Sub doesn't do much for me.

I've owned smurf, it was too blue in the bright sun for me, the bezel goes berserk. Now have the gmt. I feel a sub is more easily substituteable while the gmt is perfect as executed by rolex. If you don't expect the crisp coloring of the ss Pepsi I'd say go Blro.

I went with the 116618 as the blue is incredible, it also has different shades depending on lighting which I love. What made me go this way, the BLRO bezel just didnt have enough of the crisp coloring that ap1 states. Plus, I can never get over the fact that the sub has the glidelock which on a heavy PM piece is a must. The watch will never feel to tight or to loose, always always perfect fit. Have fun!

I couldn't decide so I got both. The SubC did come first. Both are great for their own reasons.

I spent several months thinking about which to get- sub vs. gmt. BLRO won and in the beginning I wondered if I had made the right choice- both are great. But a year in, I can say I bought the right one for me.
I didn't like the sub because - previously had a blue dial/bezel diver & wanted something new - watch sits taller due to caseback - glidelock is useful, but didn't like that the clasp spanned the entire width of my wrist and easylink is fine for me. - at the time already had a sub and if I'm going to spend that kind of money I wanted something different But the blue/wg combo is gorgeous I think the biggest issue with the BLRO is that bezel when people are looking at it. Most people hate it since it is not a pure blue & red like the orignal pepsi- they call it the purple/cranberry look here. I on the other hand, love it. If you want the red/blue to be red/blue, the BLRO isn't for you. The bezel colors can change based on the lighting- it can go from a red to a faded out pink/red to the cranberry look. The blue is the same- blue to purple and sometimes a combination of colors. For me it is perfect- WG has the subtle beauty with its yg tone, the bezel & gmt hand adds just the right amount of color, but the black dial keeps things from being too casual/colorful. A year in, I still love it. |

I am a huge Submariner fan and I have never owned a Smurf but I would go with the GMT. I like that it is some what unique and I have never seen one in person on any ones wrist. The colors of the ceramic dial are also very nice.

I had the sub and flipped for the GMT. No wrong answer, I'm just more of a GMT guy

It's funny but reading everyone's comments for/against each brought it all back for me. I agree with everything everyone said and I'm still just as confused... and I own both!

I have the sub and love it. But I've been saving and gmt is next (I think) or platinum day date. There is no wrong answer.

GMT. The complication is vey useful and I'm not planning on diving anywhere past a hundred meters with a gold watch anytime soon.

After having worn SS for so long, I do appreciate the slightly different hue and warmth/yellow tone of WG, so you will be fine with either watch! I will say the blue of the 116619 looks amazing in combination with the WG in any setting.
My AD has had a BLRO in the case for the longest time so I've been able to see and try on both. It's a great looking watch but the Glidelock won out for me. However, I will say that if the BLRO was a BNRO instead, then I probably would have gotten the GMT because I love the red/black combination (see avatar for reference). |

BLRO for me. Had the WG sub but found the blue dial too much/too bright. I am considering the BLRO myself. The watch looks much better IRL than in pics.
