Icon17 "Incoming" Send my PM to RSC or "Trusted Service Center?" Pic's inside...

Wanted to thank OldExpatBeast for helping thru some other issues, surrounding watches...

And, now onto the Repairs.

This will be my first time sending a Rolex watch to a repair center, and contemplating between RSC and Trusted Repair Person. The PIP is Cracked and I have read that RSC might replace the entire bezel, which is costly, or only replacing the PIP with some sort of RSC tool.

Also,Wasn't sure if our Trusted Repair person's, could do the Pip...

Oh yeah, this is a Major Incoming for me and although I don't have it yet, here are the TRF photo shots.

Congrats, but are you OK that the watch looks as if its been polished? It might just be the pics but that 5 o'clock lug looks thinner and the top edge looks rounded instead of "sharp edged". Maybe it is the quality of the pics. Is it from a seller here? I would ask seller for some better quality pics, IMO.

you do not have to replace the entire bezel for the lume dot......
It's a $90-$100 repair if memory serves and something I wouldn't worry until it's service time.

Yeah that lug at the 4 looks a little polished. I would take it to the RSC to repair the PIP. They can probably fix it while you wait.

I have been wanting a V-Serial, some say rare, Yellow Gold "Smurf" Dial 116618.
Along with Tom, and a few others, felt like this dial, although not Sunburst, but more importantly to me, matched the bezel with it's color and depth.

Trusted repair person?

That's a new one.

Modern watch so I'm sure RSC is fine.

I don't have service history so it's off to RSC

How old is the watch? Depending on the age and condition, I would definitely let the Dallas RSC refinish the case and bracelet. You'd get it back looking like a brand new watch.

Congrats on the new watch! I'm sure it will be good as new once it's serviced. Hopefully the 116618 will do for you what the 116619 could not.

Would a RSC fix the rounded edges / chamfers mentioned above as part of their regular service / polish fee?

I was curious about the same. I will contact them tomorrow and find out, but have a suspicion that they just fix what they can without removing to much material. I heard that on SS watches they are able to add material, like on a dent, but I'm not sure about PM

In my case is a SS sub. I know of other places that can do it (like ABC Watchwerks), but wonder about RSC. Let me know what they say!

The watch was originally bought in April 2011. I got it from a trusted seller here almost two years ago and it was my daily wearer for a little over a year until the Platona came along. Since I don't know the detailed history of the watch and that it's ~6 years old, I decided to go ahead and get it serviced. Plus, I don't want too many of my watches coming due for a service at the same time. I'm sure it could have went longer, but I don't mind keeping up the routine maintenance for such a nice watch.

As far as laser welding which adds metal, no RSC does not do this. Many Indy watchmakers can laser weld.

Congrats, Sam! Fantastic looking watch!!

As to your question, if you have someone local you like/trust, I would give them a shot first, as I don't think that would take long to fix, and I would hate for you to be without your watch long. Otherwise, the RSC is a great option. Good luck!

Congrats in advance, Sam. Hopefully this one will stick around longer than the WG Sub. Personally, I think it will.
