Never again?

We have seen all kinds of threads about what watch is your dream watch, but what I want to know is what Rolex have you owned that you would never buy again? Tell us why.

No. 1 on my list would be this 1955 6565. It's beautiful, but it stopped running in August 2004. I have been trying to find the right parts for the 1030 movement ever since.

For me....an SS DJ on Jubilee, white dial with stick markers. Beautiful watch...just too damn small at 36 mm. Got rid of it within a month!!

I don't know the exact parts that I need, but my Rolex repair guy can't find them. I even bought a donor movement. He is supposed to give me a list so I can watch for the right parts if they come up anywhere on-line.

well i can only give my opinion as i have only ever owned one rolex.

i personally would never own any rolex with yellow gold. TT or Solid. gold does not look right on me. if i were to get any rollie in a precious metal it would have to be in WG or Plat.

all the best,
Jason

For me it was the Air King. Classic watch, and I like the 3 6 9 dial configuration, but I had the same problem as JJ. At 34mm it was just way two small. I kept it for about three months and it just never smiled at me, so I traded it for something else.

My Air King.
Suited it's purpose in it's day. But yes, is quite small.
I do like the "simpleness" of the design.
It gets the occassional wear still.

I'll sidetrack this thread a little bit and broaden it out to the extent that there is no Rolex I have bought that I regret having done so. On the other hand, I do regret buying this GP ww.tc.

It's too bulky and the black face and thin hands make the subdials almost impossible to read.

For me it was the white dial EXP II. Beauty watch, just not a personal fan of white dials.

I had a vintage Explorer 5500, basically the Air King with an Explorer dial. I didn't like it for the same reasons others have stated. At 34mm, it was way too small.

I was not fond on my black dial Explorer II. I won it in a raffle. A few months later, I traded it and some cash for my TT Blue Submariner. Frankly, I have mixed feelings about this watch too. I probably will not sell mine, but I also will not buy another one.

As you may remember the TT Blue was one of my first, I was like you but I sold it. I love the way that watch looks in pics and on other people, it was just a bit too much on me.

Never say never, but I seriously doubt I'll buy another 1601 Datejust. It's a nice watch, but something about it didn't click for me.

I have bought and sold quite a few Rolex watches over the past two years, including a 1953 Super Oyster and a 1601 DJ. It took me a while to realize I am a 40mm sports model kind of guy. I'm not happy without a numbered bezel.

Yep, anything less than 40 mm now seems small. Damn it, after wearing the 43 mm Crosswind, even the 40 mm Rollies look small.
