New Style 3861 Speedmaster Bracelet Fitted on 1861 Case (Pictorial)

Hey guys. So I picked up the new hesalite 3861 over the weekend and got a bunch of questions from people if the new style bracelet will fit on the old style 1861 case.

Because I own both watches, I decided to perform the bracelet swap to answer the question and show you guys the fitment. To skip the long story, the answer is YES the new bracelet will fit the old 1861 case with no problem. I used the spring bars that came with the 3861 for this exercise and the end link fitment seemed almost perfect.

Please see the below shots:

This is a back shot of the new 3861 case with bracelet mounted:

Here is the 1861 on TOP and the 3861 on BOTTOM:

Here are some side-by-side case comparisons of both watch cases (1861 on left 3861 on right):

You can see how the side profile lug shape is different on the 3861. You will also notice the 3861 case height is slimmer.

And BEHOLD, here we have the 3861 bracelet mounted on the 1861 case:

And here is this configuration on my wrist:

I estimate Omega to charge $800+ for this new 3861 bracelet independently should you want to purchase this as a separate item to upgrade your 1861 case. The alignment of this bracelet to the case is pretty much perfect from what I can see and wears quite comfortably, although I personally still prefer the Ed White flat link bracelet but I have confirmed that the case and hole position of the new 3861 case will NOT allow for the flat link to be installed. I tested this with both the Speedy Anniversary end links as well as my Uncle Seiko end links with two types of spring bars.

Best of luck to all of you on your decisions to either invest in a 1861 or new 3861. Either way you cannot go wrong but I hope this pictorial will help you regardless.

Cheers,

M

Outstandingly helpful, thank you for this!

Really remarkable how true the speedmaster stays to its DNA. With the new bracelet, I had to do a triple take and zoom in to see it was the 3861 bracelet on the 1861 and not just the full 3861 package (looked at photos before reading the text lol).

Cool. Thanks for sharing. Note: I'm pretty sure the 3861 is on the left in your photos.

I heard that the Apollo 11 50th, the new 3861 Moonwatch, and the Snoopy 50 all have the same case would fit. I guess based on what you said, the flat link bracelet between the Apollo 11 50th and the Ed White are different flat link bracelets?

Really hoping I can put the Apollo 11 50th flat link bracelet on the Snoopy 50th when it comes.

Thanks for this, very helpful.

I'm trying to get my head around why the flat link bracelet won't fit the new case. Do you think the original bracelet from the old watch would fit the new case?

I can't think of why both of the original bracelets might fit both cases, but the flat link only fits one.

Perfect, this is what I was looking for while reading your pick up post. I'm surprised how much I like the new bracelet over the old one. Honestly I couldn't care less about the step dial or the placement of a little dot over a number but the new bracelet is huge. I probably wouldn't get one because it'll probably be around a grand or so but it definitely is the selling point of the new speedys IMO. Thank you again for the helpful post.

That is incorrect because if that was the case then the Apollo 11 bracelet would have fit my 3861 case. I do also believe the end links on the Ed White and Apollo 11 are different aside from the fact the Ed White is 19mm and the Apollo is 20mm.

The new case's drilled lug holes are higher in position on the case than the 1861. This is causing an alignment issue with that case accepting the older bracelets. It will be interesting to see what else can really fit into this new case but I have not been successful with my tests so far.

It’s a comparison between the new 3861 and the Apollo 11 (which is also 3861) which may be needed.

My understanding was that the new 3861, Apollo 11 and snoopy shared the same case and this the bracelets would be interchangeable (forget about the 1861 for now).

So the OEM Apollo 11 end links do not fit the 3861 case?

Bloody odd - and the end of my dreams. Wonder what (if any of these 2) will fit the snoopy....

I'm in the same situation. Let's hope more and more people get their Snoopys to find out.

A few weeks ago someone posted a mock up of the Snoopy 3 on a bracelet in a thread I can't find. Obviously it was a mock up picture, but I thought that the watch looked great.

Assuming that I get a Snoopy 3 at some point (let's hope!), I quite like the idea of fitting a bracelet. It would be interesting to see which bracelets would fit.

If I'm lucky to get a Snoopy the only bracelet I would consider has to have a micro adjustable clasp.

Do you have the part number? Was the entire bracelet only $680 (end links, bracelet, clasp)? I had to buy the adjustable clasp (6 microadjustments) and it came out to a little less than $400. I wish I waited and just get the new bracelet for a little more.

For sure - if the Apollo 11 bracelet doesn’t fit, then it will be strange. But let’s see. I’m in the same boat as you about getting one anyway....

Fantastic post OP, thank you for taking the time

Do you notice the new Speedy wears slimmer than the previous gen?

Also, I’ve read the winding crown is “easier to use”??

The Apollo bracelet doesn’t fit per revolution watch review. Who’’d have thought eh? I wonder if the new one will too....

This is excellent, thank you.

I've warmed up to the bracelet itself but still can't gel with the new clasp. Might be worth it to suck it up though.
