Need advice
I was in a motorcycle accident sat. I'm basically OK, but my watch (16610) is not. Crystal is shattered and gone, watch is not running etc. This was a gift from my wife 16 years ago, I had it serviced in TN 6 years ago. I called them and they didn't answer nor have they called back. I live in a very small town so I need to send it somewhere. Looking for suggestions. I just want it fixed right. I live in PA but will send it anywhere. thanks to all

Is it possible to change the bazel color? I saw the green and loved it. I talked to New York. Very nice people but said they would only put it back to original black. I lost the bezel in the wreck. I guess I'm looking for a place that can fix it right and change color. Thanks for the help...By the way just ordered that book at the bottom of the page, looks good.

Sorry to hear of your accident, but glad you are OK.
Send it to Rikki, who is a member here and has done some amazing work, including case and bracelet refinishing. Just do a quick search if you are not sure... Welcome to TRF!

Rik Dietel at Time care inc. will take care of your watch and make it like new again much cheaper and faster than RSC. He has a Rolex parts account and has been a watchmaker since 1980 and does awesome work. But be forewarned, he will not put aftermarket parts or change bezels that were not offered on that particular reference of watch. He can lose his account with Rolex, so you will need to keep the watch restored to as it was from the Rolex factory. Give him a call, he is great to talk with concerning your watch.

Welcome to the forum! I'm very glad you are okay! Sounds like it was a pretty bad accident to have caused that much damage. Did your 16610 take the brunt of the hit or is that the condition of you and your bike as well? I hope not!

I'm better than I should be. The watch hit hard but I think it protected my wrist. I have a pic of the pavement where the watch hit and you can see a circle of fine crystal on the road. This watch was a gift from my wife in Aug of 95, I want it back. I look at my wrist 40 times a day to check the time and it;s not there. My home owners will be covering the bill.

If the case is heavily damaged RSC might replace it. Seems like your costs will be covered but if you want it original as gifted then Rik is great choice.
But the Green bezel insert won't be possible to avoid fake LVs.

heres a pic, that last one is where it hit pavement while still on my wrist. Also that is not my original box. That is the box that it was shipped back to me after last service 6 years ago. I dont beat on my watch but I do wear it. Only take it off when welding.

RSC will be the only ones able to replace the complete bezel. Rolex doesn't sell that part to the independent watchmaker unless they can exchange the old one. Since the old one is missing, only an RSC can supply you one.

My recent experience w/RSC in NYC was excellent. Hopefully you'll get it back in perfect shape w/o too much monetary damage. I'd check my insurance, too, because you never know. Sometimes you'd be amazed at what might be covered.

I usually recommend sending to Rolex Service in Texas. But I am sure NY will do a great job.

They will call. RSC just works in their own time frame. Pretty bad business to tell you that they'd contact you multiple times and then not follow through. (Sigh) they can get away with it though ....... Still doesn't make it right.

The NY RSC wants $150 to look at it? I thought estimated through the RSCs were free.

I gave them the go ahead and look at it for $150. They did say that if they fix it they will deduct the $150. Now I'm waiting to hear what repairs need done.......... I miss my watch.

Ok, here is the damage. Movement service required, crown dented, damaged, dial spotted, scratched, Hands damaged/bent, case frame damaged, Impact damage, crystal broken fragments in movement, dial and hands luminous discolored, bezel missing, bracelet damaged. She said it is not totaled. But to repair everything is $5975.22 I am waiting for the email that breaks down every part/cost. How do you repair a broken case, I love the impact damage, I came off a bike and hit the pavement, of course there was an impact. I'm not sure what a new one runs but this is over twice what I paid 19 years ago. My ins does cover replacement cost. What do you guys think??

That's a lot of money; guess it will come down to what you can get another one for and how much this one means to you...
