If you can spring for the Day-Date, I'd do it. For one thing, let's face it -- if you can really afford the Day-Date, then you're not going to have to save for very long to get a SS Sub or Exp II, or whatever -- should you want it. :-)

I currently have the RG DD and the Explorer II. I'm thinking that the all gold is too flashy and thinking I can return the DD and get the DJ for dress and get the Sub as well.

Well, you have to decide what you really want. I've never had a watch leave the store with me unless it was absolutely what I wanted. (Of couse, how I feel about a couple of months later is another story. ;-))

I sold my yellow Day-Date because I found it too flashy, and it just didn't look appropriate with my wardrobe. I'd get one in white gold, though. Have you considered that? It is a pretty cool feeling having that hunk of gold wrapped around your wrist.

Don't concern yourself too much about what others think. You have to buy what you'll really enjoy, and of course, what you can afford.

I voted for the second option. Why not have 3 Rollies if you can afford them? And the Sub-date is like a must in any Rolex collection. So you will have TWO different kinds of sports watches PLUS a dress watch to boot!!

WOW! What a great collection that would make!!

I voted for the second choice. If the RG DD had a matching dial and raised romans, you would've had me at hello
