1018 crown tube replacement

I want to restore some of the original waterproofing to my 1967 1018.

Not planning on swimming with it, but want to ensure it is protected from the unexpected. It could be OK now but if it is easy enough to replace the crown tube I'd probably do it.

My crown only screws on a turn or so before bottoming out on the case side, and I'm not sure if it is the crown threads or the crown tube threads that might be worn down. I also have a 6mm crown (orig. 1018 crown is 5.3mm) and it screws on about the same amount, leading me to think it could be the tube itself that is worn. But then again, both crowns are also old.

My thought was to try and source a replacement for both, along with the o-rings, so that I have a good seal at the crown to tube, and tube to case.

So my questions are:

1 - What part number would the crown tube assembly be, and what other Rolex cases might use the same part (may make it easier for me to find, since 1018 wasn't produced in huge numbers)

2 - What tool is used to remove this size crown tube from the case, and is that a problematic procedure? Seems straightforward but then again I don't want to assume anything. Is there a good source for the tool?

3 - Is there some kind of seal at the crystal, or is it just a press-fit seal of the acrylic crystal to the case with the bezel holding it on firmly?

Thanks for any help on any of this!

Excellent - Thank you!

What are the 888 and 945 numbers?

Also, my 6mm crown is a 24-600 (which is listed there for a 1016) and fits on the 24-5330 tube that has always been on the watch. But the 1016 tube is listed as a 24-6010. Any idea what the difference in these crown tubes would be?
Of course my original 24-530 crown also screws onto this crown tube.

I suppose maybe the case threads are different (but the crown threads are the same?)

Thanks for your help!

Does the 6mm crown that you are fitting into the 24-5330 tube have the stem?

Yes - I fit another stem to it so that I could swap the 5.3mm crown back in easily.

Thanks

Does that reference book list the case back gasket / o-ring? Or other common Rolex models that use the same gasket?
Thanks!
