Is this cellini a good buy?

I was searching for a vintage cellini for christmas gift, then I stopped at Connoisseur of Time watch, they have a 1973 cellini with pretty good condition restoration. Could you guys give me some advice on this? Sorry I couldn't post the link yet, but they have their own website to see those pics.

I don’t see much to criticize about this one, other than price.

If your not familiar with size.
This states that it is 31mm.
That is pretty small for men anymore.
I hate to go below 36mm, and many people feel that is too small.

The seller notes that the dial is repainted.

Yes, hence the comment on price. Repainted dials are undesirable to serious collectors and purists. This is not a super collectible ref and will be hard to resell if you tire of it.

Seems to be a bit of a moving target. Yes, the fact that it is not a desirable watch to collectors does not affect the fact that it can be a perfectly good daily watch.

Fondness for Frankenstein?

I personally wouldn't want that watch. At 31mm and a repainted dial seems like it's not desirable. Why don't you look at some used omega watches or other brands in that price range. Or spend a little bit more and buy a good used datejust. A datejust is a far better choice in my opinion.
