Vintage (14700ST) incoming

14700ST is a 36mm transitional model between 4100ST and 14790ST that was made in 1991.

Very cool! Didn't you just pick up the 5402ST? Are you single handedly buying out the vintage market? ;)

That’s a beautiful reference! I don’t have a 14700, but I love my 14790ST. Congrats & enjoy.

Wow, that is gorgeous vintage timepiece, I love it.

I have two 14790 and love them very much.

It must be pretty hard to find a good 14700ST.

I just have a Google doc with a giant list of websites of dealers that I check frequently for such stuff :-)

I picked up the 5402ST in May but sent it in to AP for service and got back the service proposal recently in Oct, so I posted about that recentl. I'll get it back in Feb probably and I'm sure I'll post an update when I get it back from service!

Definitely enjoying exploring vintage, particularly stuff that is a bit uncommon (like transitional references)!

Awesome!

Did you buy them as vintage timepieces or have you been a fan of AP for long enough to have gotten them when they were still in production?

Great to see more people who appreciate the 36mm mid-size releases. I think they're great and they work well for my wrist size. Every now and then I see people on this forum saying that the current 37mm 15450 are too small to be worn by men (as if wrist size does not vary), and I find that reasoning odd.

Yes, I just bought them as vintage timepieces early this year. I wear them from 36mm to 41mm. It ‘s not easy to find good condition vintage at the reasonable price.

Such a great piece! I struggle with trusted sellers for vintage AP. Any recommendations for US based dealers who specialize in vintage AP?

You're right... the market in the US is pretty thin for vintage. The selection from UK + EU dealers seems to be as good or better than the US, and Italy in particular seems to have a lot. (I guess this isn't surprising because as I understand it the 5402 found an initial following in Italy before it became widely popular.)

In the US, subjectively I'd say European Watch, Tropical Watch, The Keystone, WatchBox and Phigora seem to have the most robust supply of vintage AP. Erik Szper, Nashville Watch, Takuya, DavidSW and Luxury Bazaar will have a vintage AP pieces here or there (mostly modern though). HQ Milton has a lot of vintage Rolex but they only seem to get AP branded watches very rarely.
