Speedy Recommendation
Have a hankering for a quality mechanical chrono.
Speedy checks an awful lot of boxes but often falls short in that most models to not have applied indices. The watch does not have to be current production but would does need to hit the following criteria: 1) No more than 42mm. Many of the DSOM watches are really attractive and tick my boxes but are simply too large. 6.5" wrists means I really won't budge above 42mm. 42mm is a stretch but given how the crown/pusher guard is integrated into the case I understand Speedies wear a bit smaller 2) Applied and lumed indices 3) Sapphire 4) Date would be great 5) Prefer exhibition back Can be flexible on 4 & 5 but not 1-3. If all else fails, the Zenith Chronomaster Sport is near the top of the list. Daytona would be great but not with current availability. Any models come to mind with availability below or near $10k? |

How about the professional moonwatch?
It meets all your criteria except for the date

Really like the Moonwatch but the lack of applied indices keeps me away. Probably need to get one in the hand and see. Could find it doesn't bother me nearly as much as I imagine.

Take at look at the Speedmaster Heritage models. They tick all the boxes except the exhibition back (which you don't look at anyway).

Ask me about a Rolex and my answer will completely change! Best of luck, but you're spot on. See it in person then decide.

2021 sapphire sandwich is a peach. Cannot go wrong there; it hits WAY above it's weight class.

Date windows look a bit weird on chronos.

No date or exhibition case back, but one heck of a watch for the money

Not an omega but a breitling navitimer, meets most of your criteria as well.
